Coriolanus Domarus Burkhart, the third son of John Burkhart, was born in Hawkins County, Tennessee, in 1821. I believe he and his older brother, Raymond Sanderson Burkhart, came to the Oregon Territory in 1845 at their father's bequest to determine if moving the extended family would be beneficial. The decision was a resounding Yes! He and eight of his nine* surviving brothers, sisters and their families followed the Oregon Trail from Burlington, Des Moines Co., Iowa in early 1847, arriving October 16th, 1847 at what was to become Albany, in the Oregon Territory, having taken the Southern "Applegate" Route, that entered Oregon near Ashland and brought the family North thru the Willamette Valley to what would become the town of Albany, in Linn County. "Crill" (as he was known), met, courted and married Caroline Lavinia Goff (who had come from Missouri), on the 4th of July, 1850 when she was only 16 years of age. They settled down, creating a prosperous farm of their own in the Harrisburg area, raising a family with thirteen children. These children were:

Olive C., b.Feb 21, 1852, d.Dec 8, 1880
Charles Marion, b.Aug 18, 1853, d.Dec 9, 1915
John David, b.Nov 1, 1855, d.Oct 11, 1917
Fred George, b.Nov 1, 1857, d.Dec 23, 1931
Rebecca V., b.Oct 9, 1859, d.Dec 24, 1878
Louesa Pauline, b.Jun 21, 1862, d.Jun 8, 1882
Crill Davidson, b.Nov 28, 1864, d.Nov 19, 1936

Linnie Caroline, b.Jun 9, 1870, d. Nov 5, 1871
Minnie M., b.Dec 20, 1872, d.Apr 21, 1886
Eugene, b.Mar 19, 1876, d.Oct 3, 1876
Samuel Oliver, b.May 22, 1878, d.Dec 17, 1934.

Three children died within the 1st 2 years of life. Four children lived only into their teen years and one child lived to be 28 yrs. old. The other five children lived past the age of 56 years of age. Five of Crill's children married:
