Funeral services for Samuel Franklin Bottoms, 72 years of age, were held Saturday at the Church Tabernacle at Knifley with the Rev. S.J. Conover in charge, assisted by Allie Young. Burial was in the Tabernacle Cemetery. Mr. Bottoms died at his home April 22 [1943] of tuberculosis. He had been in ill health for some time. He was a well-known farmer of the Pellyton section and was a member at the Christian Tabernacle. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Goldie Bottoms, and children: Mrs. Bessie Giles, Knifley, Mrs. Florence Willis, Louisville, Mrs. Edith Patton, Elmwood, OH, Afton Bottoms, Springfield, IL, Wyatt & William Bottoms of Komo, IN, Zelmer & Ancil, Fairland, IN, and Chester, who is with the armed forces overseas. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. Ada Hardwick, Fairland, IN, and numerous other relatives.
