NORMAN — Martin "Marty" VanBuren Creagan III of Purcell, passed away Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011, in Purcell. Marty was born on Sept. 27, 1956, in Fort Worth, Texas. He was the younger of two children born to Martin VanBuren Creagan II and Ruby Faye (Moore) Creagan. Marty grew up in Lubbock, Texas where he attended high school and graduated in 1975. For the past 20 years he has been employed at Riverside-P & K Tractor in Norman and in Purcell.

As a hobby, Marty enjoyed working on and restoring older model vehicles; his latest project was restoring a 1940 Ford Tudor sedan deluxe. Throughout his life, Marty loved being in the outdoors where he enjoyed camping and going to the lake with his family.

He was a 32 degree Mason of the Guthrie Scottish Rite, a member of the Purcell Masonic Lodge #27 and a member of the Purcell First Baptist Church.

Marty married Sherrie Rosamond on June 3, 2000, in Purcell and together they have made their home in Purcell. The most important thing in Marty's life was his family. He will be remembered as a loving husband, a wonderful dad and grandfather, a special brother and uncle.

He was preceded in death by parents Martin and Faye Creagan.

He is survived by wife Sherrie of the home in Purcell; 2 children: daughter, Wendy Wyatt and husband Mark of Knoxville, Tenn.; son, Jon Creagan and fiancée Megan of Norman; 1 sister, Debbie Sirpless and husband Bobby of Norman; 3 step-children, Angel Elkins and husband Ricky Richardson of Lexington, Jeni Suarez of Norman, Jobeth Jeurgens and husband Austin of Norman; 6 grandchildren, Clay, Hannah, Nicole, Kylie, Grace and Houston; 1 nephew, Brent Sirpless; 1 niece, Lindsay Schmidt and husband Troy; mother and father-in-law Jan and Tom Rosamond of Wayne; also several cousins and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 2011, at the First Baptist Church in Purcell. Interment will be at the Hillside Cemetery in Purcell. A visitation with family and friends will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.
