April 1, 1926 - April 25, 2012 OKLAHOMA CITY Jessie "J.B." Byrd, 86 of Oklahoma City, passed away Wednesday April 25, 2012. He was born in Arkansas on April 1, 1926. The Byrd family moved to the Wayne, OK area in the mid 1940's. J.B. married Helen Helton of Wayne, OK on July 10, 1957 to which 2 children were born. J.B. worked for a short time at the Naval Training Base in Norman, OK before moving to Oklahoma City where he worked at Armour & Co. until the plant closed in 1962. He was employed by the City of Oklahoma City for 25 years as a heavy equipment operator, retiring in 1988. He continued his love of big machinery working for the town of Lexington until retiring in 1997. He was preceded in death by wife, Helen Byrd; parents, Clarence & Alma Byrd; infant son, Jessie David; and 2 brothers, Gale Byrd & Bill Byrd. J.B. is survived by daughter, Julia Jones of Dale, OK; 4 grandchildren, Sara, Destiny, Jessica & Brittany; brother, Cleo Byrd & sister, Betty Milner, both of OKC; sisters, Veda Helm of Albuquerque, NM, and Helen Millwood of Nashville, AR; many other loving family and friends. Graveside Services are scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Saturday, April 28, 2012, at the Hillside Cemetery in Purcell. Arrangements by Wilson-Little.
