Camilla Svitzer Staples, 79, a longtime resident of St. Croix, died on Feb. 12, 2007, after a brief illness.
She was born in Pleasantville, N.Y., and attended school in Pleasantville and Briarcliff Manor, N.Y. She moved to St. Croix in 1984.
She is survived by her son, Bruce Dawson, and wife, Kathy; granddaughter, Colleen Dawson; sister, Peg Parmele; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Dawson; her parents, Appleton H. and Johanne Marie Svitzer Staples; her brother, Norman Staples; and three sisters, Janet Loughran, Mary Elizabeth Staples and Catherine Brundage.
Staples' grandfather Emil Erik Svitzer emigrated to St. Croix from Denmark and formerly owned Estate Little Princess. Her mother, brother and sister were born on St. Croix.
Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Greensboro, N.C.
