Philander S. Dibble was born on 29 Aug 1831 in New York State, the son of John and Nancy Dibble.

He married Miss Rachel E. Corwin in Feb 1863.

Philander and Rachel had four children: Alfred C., Matilda, Arthur and Ethel.

PHILANDER S. DIBBLE

Philander S. Dibble, an old and respected resident of Gulf Summit, died at his home here early Thursday morning. Mr. Dibble was born August 29, 1831, and had lived on the farm where he died forty-one years. He was a good husband and a kind and loving father, and was highly respected by all who knew him. He was a member of the M. E. Church of McClure.

He leaves to mourn their loss beside his wife [Rachel Corwin], four children - Alfred, at home; Arthur, of Binghamton; Mrs. James Frazier, of Susquehanna; and Mrs. George Rose of South New Berlin.

Six years ago Mr. Dibble suffered a paralytic shock, but partially recovered and was about until three weeks ago, when he had other shocks which resulted in his death. He had been married fifty years last February.

The funeral was held at the home if his son, Alfred, last Saturday, when about seventy-five friends and neighbors gathered to pay their last tribute to the deceased. Rev J. W. Thoms, of McClure, officiated. Burial in McClure cemetery.

Those from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Howard Dibble, of Port Jervis; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Dibble, of Binghamton, Mrs. James Frazier and Mr. and Mrs. William Terry, of Susquehanna; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Alexander, of Cascade Valley; Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Fortner, of Deposit; Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Lovelace and daughter, of Lanesboro; Mrs. Sarah Dugan, of Cortland; Earl Dibble, of Pittsburgh, PA; Bruce Cheeseman, of Lestershire.

We miss thee from thy place dear father.
