FRANCES HELEN BISHOP, 91, of Owosso, died Friday, December 14, 2001, at Memorial Healthcare Center. She worked at Universal Electric (now known as A.O. Smith) for 20 years, retiring in 1973.

Funeral services will take place at Jennings-Lyon Funeral Chapel at 11 am. on Monday. Father Greg Tournoux will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will take place at the funeral chapel on Sunday from 2 pm to 8 pm and Monday from 9 am until the time of the service. A rosary will be said Sunday evening at 7 pm at Jennings-Lyons.

Mrs. Bishop was born December 6, 1910, in Fowler; the daughter of Frank and Anna (Schafer) Hufnagel. She had remained a resident of Owosso since 1940.

On December 31, 1937, she married Franklin Charles Bishop in St. Johns. Mr. Bishop died on June 18, 1996, after 60 years of wedded bliss.

Mrs. Bishop was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church in Owosso. She also belonged to Kings Daughters, was a YWCA Team Leader, hospice volunteer, a Detroit Tiger fan and was well-known for her baking. She was a friend to people of all ages and a loyal secretary to her husband, Frank, in his conservation work.

Survivors include her daughters, Maureen (Richard) Gilna of Corunna and Janis (Kenneth) Kazen of Owosso; sons James (Stella) Bishop of St. Ignace and Fred (Lynn) Bishop of Tavernier, FL.; grandchildren, Kristin (Pat) Kazen-Gillespie, Joseph Kazen, Lisa Jonckheere, Timothy (Shawn) Bishop, Michele (Erwin) Lenneman, Cheryl Cherry, Michael (Lisa) Gilna and Christine Gilna; and 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one grandson, Andrew Bishop; three granddaughters, Mary Theresa, Vicki Jo, and Kelly Marie; one great-grandson, Tristin Bishop; and seven brothers and two sisters.

Memorials are suggested to Christ Episcopal Church or to the charity of the donor's choice.
