William Keith Hackney, 92, of Plymouth died Monday, May 9, 2011, at Roanoke Landing in Plymouth.
Born November 8, 1918 in Richwood, West Virginia he was the son of the late William Thomas Hackney I and Alma Williams Hackney and was preceded in death by his step-sons, Ronnie G. Ayers, Gary W. Ayers, Michael D. Ayers; sisters, Hattie Groves, Daisy Butcher, Grace Sloan; brothers, Howard Hackney, Roland Hackney and Neil Hackney. Keith was a retired machine tender with Weyerhaeuser Corporation and member of Saints Delight Church of Christ. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II, member of the Veteran's Of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
His family includes his wife, Ruth Watson Hackney of Plymouth, N.C.; son, William Thomas Hackney, II of Creswell, N.C.; step-daughter, Nancy G. Ruffin of Hot Springs, AK.; brother, Gerald "Ike" Hackney of Richwood, W.Va.; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Maitland Funeral Home, Plymouth with Lloyd Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Maitland Funeral Home, Plymouth and other times at the residence. Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Plymouth.
