Charles E. Dickey, Sr., JACKSON
Services for Charles E. Dickey, Sr., 83, will be 2:00 PM Thursday, June 22, 2006, at Forest Heights United Methodist Church with Dr. Susan Sharpe and Dr. Paul Clayton officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Cemetery.
Mr. Dickey died Monday, June 19, 2006 at Baptist Hospital East, Memphis, TN. He was born in Ardmore, OK, son of the late Robert Preston and Mary Lea Sanders Dickey. Mr. Dickey was a veteran of World War II. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Middle TN State University, and Master's Degree from the University of Memphis.

He was a retired Special Agent with the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Bureau, and also retired from the school system, teaching at Jackson Jr. High School and Northside High School. He served on the School Board for eight years, and was Past Commander of American Legion Post 12. He was a member of Forest Heights United Methodist Church.

Mr. Dickey leaves his wife, Virginia McDade Dickey. Mr. and Mrs. Dickey moved to Memphis in October, 2005. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in June.

He also leaves two daughters, Ann "Sandy" and her husband, Charles "Tif" Bingham of Memphis, TN; and Barbara Dickey of Berkley, CA; a son, Charles E. "Buddy" Dickey, Jr. and his wife, Judith, of Memphis, TN; two grandchildren, Erin Dickey Klisiak of Santa Cruz, CA and Audrey Dickey of Memphis, TN; and two sisters, Bonita Morris of Carthage, TN and Mary Katherine Taylor of Huntington, TN.

Memorials may be directed to Forest Heights United Methodist Church, 863 W. Forest Ave., Jackson, TN 38301; or a charity of the donor's choice.

Casketbearers to serve will be Jim McCormick, Oneal Henley, Mike Taylor, Brent Cooper, Carey Craig, and Jerry Hayes. Members of the Forest Fellowship Class from Forest Heights United Methodist Church will serve as Honorary Casketbearers and are asked to sit in a group.

The family will receive friends at Forest Heights United Methodist Church Thursday from 12:30 PM until time of service.
