Thomas Kemp came to Baltimore in 1803. In any case we find the first land record for him in Baltimore was the north east corner of Market Street, Fells Point, which he purchased on December 7, 1803. Sophia Horstman, eldest daughter of John Horstman and Elizabeth Riddle. A sampler done by Sophia at the age of twelve, inherited by the writer's family, gives her birth as December 18,1787. This sampler is now at the Maryland Historical Society. This date coincides with the original records of the Zion Lutheran Church in Baltimore,MD. There were three children by this marriage, Thomas H., Elizabeth, and Sophia., the maternal great grandmother of the writer, who married William Haddaway Dawson. On March 22,1809,five weeks after the birth of Sophia Horstman Kemp(his wife) passed away at the age of 21 yrs, 3 months, 4 days. Thomas bought Wades Point 3 years after his wife Sophia had passed away. One of the verses which she had embroidered on her sampler had been,"Remember Time Will Come When We Must Give Account To God How We On Earth Did Live" Kemp remarried on November 16,1809, Eliza Fisher Doyle, age 21,window of Thomas Doyle, and daughter of Daniel and Susanne Fischer,members of the Zion Church.

Thomas Kemp died on March 3rd,1824 at the age of 45 yrs. He is buried on the highest knoll of Wades Point, in Talbot County, Maryland. Wades Point was known as the Wades Point Farm. Now known as; Wades Point Inn on the Bay "Bed & Breakfast"

His father was; Thomas Kemp B:11/4/1741 - D:1/14/1800 Bolton, Bay Hundred, Talbot, MD.

His grandfather was; John Kemp B:1706-D:1773 Balton, Bay Hundred, Talbot, MD.

Quaker Robert Kemp from Yorkshire,England & wife Elizabeth Webb, Married in 1678, was living in"Boulton" at Bay Hundred,Talbot County was the 2 great grandparents of Thomas Kemp. First son & 5th,child of Thomas Kemp & Rachel Denny.

The land has a sign now "Wades Point Inn on the Bay" The Kemp Family burial ground is on the right side of the drive about 1/2 way down.
