Elizabeth L. Barnes, 90, of Houston, Texas, formally of Fulton, Missouri, passed away Monday, January 26, 2009 at Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital in Houston.
Elizabeth was born June 18, 1918 in Reedsville, Missouri, the daughter of the late Benjamin Y. and Miatie (Davis) Dawson. In December 4, 1944 she married Williams S. "Sam" Barnes who preceded her in death on December 23, 1995.
She is survived by one son, Samuel G. (Sue) Barnes of Lexington, Kentucky; one daughter, Linda J. (Roger) Daniel of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren, Samuel G. Barnes Jr. of Cleveland, Ohio, Bryan H. Barnes of Atlanta, Georgia, Amy M. Daniel of Sugar Land, Texas and Bryan M. Daniel of Tyler, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Julie Elizabeth Barnes and Samuel G. Barnes 111 of Cleveland, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by two half-brothers, G. Roy Dawson of Fulton, Missouri and M. Yates Dawson of Lamesa, New Mexico, an infant brother and her half-sister, Lumma Shedd of Kansas City, Missouri.
Mrs. Barnes was a graduate of Fulton High School. She was an active member of the Court Street Methodist Church, a community leader for 4H, active in PTO and a member of The Good Neighbors Extensive Club for ten years. She was a homemaker and a devoted Mother.
Services at 2pm, Saturday, January 11, 2009 at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton. Burial will follow in Callaway Memorial Gardens.
