Marion E. Pohl, the longtime city clerk for Marthasville, died Nov. 2, 2007, at St. John's Mercy Hospital in Washington, Mo. She was 82.
Pohl served as city clerk for Marthasville for more than 30 years. City clerk is an elected position in Marthasville. That's 15 two-year terms.
"She pretty much did that consecutively," City Treasurer Kim Owens said.
"She and her husband grew up in Marthasville; it was their home," Owens said. "She put a lot of extra into her work."
Her husband, Frank Pohl, said both he and his wife cared about Marthasville and helped make it a great place to live.
"She enjoyed her work and she tried to help everybody," he said.
Marion Pohl also served as an emergency medical technician for Marthasville Fire and Ambulance Service for many years. She was a member of St. Vincent's DePaul Catholic Church in Dutzow, the Western Catholic Union and the Card Club.
She was born Aug. 29, 1925, to Adolph and Rose (Kamler) Holtmeier in Krakow.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, three grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Wilbert Holtmeier; and one sister, Lucille Narup.
Services were Nov. 6 at St. Vincent's DePaul Catholic Church in Dutzow with burial in the church cemetery.
