Hazel Marie Kirkland Bird, 80, of Chipley, FL, passed away on Monday September 30th, 2002 after a brief illness. Graveside services were held at 1 pm on Wednesday October 2nd, 2002 in the Evergreen Cemetery, Jacksonville, FL, with the Rev. Harris Touchton officiating. Interment followed in the Evergreen Cemetery, Jacksonville, FL with Brown Funeral Home, of Chipley, directing. She was laid to rest beside her loving and devoted husband, Jesse D. Bird. She is survived by two sons: Wallace Rudolph Kirkland (wife Gayle), San Mateo, FL, Jerry Thomas Carter (wife Nancy), Bradenton, FL, two brothers: Norman Maxwell Kirkland Jr. (wife Joyce), Chipley, FL, Rex Kirkland (wife Pat), Cottondale, FL, two sisters: Clara McAdams (husband Howard), Chipley, FL, Elaine Edwards (husband Henry Jr.), Lexington, NC, and four grandchildren: Darrell Kirkland, Terry Kirkland, Sara Carter, Matthew Carter.
