Charles Bushong

Charles Elliot Bushong, 97, of DuBois, Pa., and Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Monday, June 5, 2006, at DuBois Nursing Home, Pa. He was born Sept. 3, 1908, in Canton, Ohio, to William Andrew and Louise Carrie (Myers) Bushong. Mr. Bushong was a graduate of Wittenberg College University in Springfield, Ohio. He served in the U.S. Army Company B of the 1560th Service Unit Reception Center and was a veteran of World War II. Mr. Bushong retired as a milkman and insurance salesman, and he enjoyed stamp collecting. He was a member of the Lodge Council Chapter Consistry Valley of Cleveland, a 50-year member of Al Koran Shriners of Broadview Heights, Ohio, and a member of Chas. T. Raymer Covenant Lodge 683 FAM, where he received his 50-year membership in 2006. Mr. Bushong is survived by his wife, Charlotte Ann Walford Fritts Bushong,whom he married Oct. 1, 1983; son, Robert Edgar Bushong of Rancho Mirage, Calif.; granddaughter, Holly Nicole Bushong; and stepgrandson, Gregory Roy Bushong. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Loretta Eva Arnold; a brother Donald William Bushong; and his parents. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 15, 2006, at the Mohney-Yargar Funeral Chapel, 142 West Long Ave., DuBois. Visitation will be also from 11 a.m. to noon followed by funeral services at noon Friday, June 16, 2006, at Treasure Lake Interdenominational Church, with the Rev. Richard Whitaker, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Cemetery, Canton, Ohio. Memorials may be made to Treasure Lake Interdenominational Church, 226 Treasure Lake, DuBois, PA 15801; or Burnt Store Presbyterian Church, 11330 Burnt Store Road, Punta Gorda FL 33955-1402.
