Mr. Posey Lee Branscome Sr. passed away Saturday, March 22, 2003, at Meadowbrook Manor of Clemmons after a seven month illness. Mr. Branscome was born Nov. 27, 1912, in Carroll County, VA to the late Lee & Lizzie Morris Branscome. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. Mr. Branscome was co-owner of Konnoak Hills Food Market with his two brothers, Fred and Ernest, who preceded him in death. Mr. Branscome is survived by his wife of 52 years, Velma Flippin Branscome; a daughter, Debbie Maynard & husband, Steve of Winston-Salem; two sons, the Rev. Michael W. Branscome & wife, Linda of Aberdeen and the Rev. Butch Branscome & wife, Amy of Charlotte; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a sister, Virginia Boone of Winston-Salem; along with two sisters-in-law, Lucy and Louise Branscome. A 12:30 p.m. funeral service will be held Monday, March 24, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Dr. Gary McCollough and Dr. Ray Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 1100-C S. Stratford Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or Konnoak Baptist Church, 400 McLean Ave., Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
