Mrs. Alice Elizabeth Mustin Barney, 88, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2008. She was born on September 21, 1919, to John Early and Katherine Elizabeth Middleton Mustin. Mrs. Barney was a member of Westside Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Hayden Barney; her parents and a brother, Harvey Mustin and a sister, Claudia Stafford. She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Ann Russell (Rev. Bob Russell), Sylvia Arlene Poindexter (T.W. Poindexter); one son, John Early Barney, Sr. (Martha Barney); eight grandchildren, Debbie Hunter (Randy), Donna Gallimore (Dennis), Tommy Poindexter (Cindy), John E. Barney, Jr. (Jen), Pam Goss (Walt), Kim Mathis (Doylan), Bobby Russell, Jr. (Susan) and Jimmy Poindexter; great-grandchildren, Molly, Patrick and Alex Hunter, Christopher Poindexter, Amber, Sam and Ashlee Brown, Skyler, Rhys, and Jade Barney, Keri Goss, Erin, and Laurel Russell, Brad (Ginger)and Chris (Cassi) Mathis; great-great-grandchildren, Autumn, and Jennifer Wilson-Brown, Christopher Carper, Adrianna Brown and Larsen Gallimore; and a brother, Lindsey Mustin Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, close friends and her special little friend, Porshia the cat. A special thank you for her caregivers; Peggy, Cheryl, Sheila, Mogie, Ashlee, Carol, Brenda and Kim. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice for all their care and kindness. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, June 12, 2008 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Bobby Russell, Rev. Ronnie Groce and Rev. Arnette Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M., Wednesday at the funeral home.
