Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Maudie Black Tanksley, 85, resident of Greenwood, were held at 2.00 p.m. Sunday, September 29, 1991 at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Ed McCutcheon and Elder David Blair officiating. Burial was in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Greenwood.

Mrs. Tanksley died of heart failure Friday, September 27 at North Sunflower County Hospital in Ruleville. She was the widow of the late Lawrence Avery Tanksley.

A native of Montgomery County, Mrs. Tanksley moved to Greenwood in 1954 from Webster County. She was a homemaker and a member of the Greenwood Primitive Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Jean Hunt of Greenwood; three sons, Byron Tanksley of Byron, Georgia, Paul Tanksley of Athens, Georgia and Jerry Tanksley of Greenwood; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers were Steven Hunt, Webb Anderson, Curtis Jolly, Jerry Hovas, Curt Jolly and Tom Flowers.

Wilson and Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood was in charge of arrangements.
