Obituary - Catherine Sheely Expired in Toledo, Mrs. Catherine Sheely, 80, a former resident of Tiffin died on 22 January 1940 at the home of her daughter Mrs. Theresa Griffin of Toledo. Mrs. Sheely was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Etchen, who resided here many years ago. She was the widow of Matt Sheely who died six years ago. Surviving is 12 children, none of whom reside in Tiffin, and the following brothers and sisters; Mrs. Carolina Hoffman, and Mrs. Emma Baum both of Tiffin, Sister Margaret of Ursuline Convent, Mrs. Elizabeth Banks, of Toledo, George Etchen, Columbus, and John Etchen of New Bavaria.

The Sandusky Register - Thursday, Jan. 25, 1940 - (Tiffin, Jan 24) - Mrs. Catherine Sheeley, 80, formerly of Tiffin, died today in the home of her daughter. Mrs. Theresa Griffin, Toledo. Surviving are twelve sons and daughters, three sisters, Mrs. Caroline Hoffman, Mrs. Emma Baum, and Sister Margaret Mary of the Ursuline Order, all of Tiffin, and two brothers, George Etchen and John Etchen.

During the turn of the century, they lived in Pleasant Township, Henry County Ohio, traveled to Presque Isle Mich, and back and by 1910 settled in, Swancreek Township, Fulton County, OH. They had 8 children. Their daughter Marcella died in 1938 at age 39 and left 13 children, 7 of whom ended up in Wood County children's home.
