Leona was a daughter of James "Fiddlin Mack" & Mary Jane Couch Mann. Leona married 1st in 1891 to William Jewell; 2nd in 1941 to Steve Creech; 3rd in 1947 to Gilbert Maggard.

Booneville, Nov. 21 - Mrs. Leona Jewell, 97, died at 6 a.m. today at the Clemmie Smith Rest Home at Beattyville after a long illness. A native of Lee County, she was a member of the Church of God.


Survivors are four sons, George and Keen Jewell, both of Ohio; Macky Jewell, Primrose, and Victor Jewell, Winchester; three daughters, Mrs. Alba Finchum, Hazard; Mrs. Mary Morris, Michigan, and Mrs. Reba Deaton, Ohio; a brother, Mort Mann, Lee County; a sister, Mrs. Bill Mayes, Florida; 39 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.


Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at the King Justice and Searcy Chapel by the Rev. Walter Strong. Burial will be in Lucas Cemetery at Primrose.
