CECIL EDGAR EASTMAN, 94, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, February 16, 2013 at Winfield Resthaven.

Born on June 20, 1918 on a farm east of Wilmot, Kansas, he was the son of Henry and Belle (Bowan) Eastman.

He was united in marriage to Helen Francis Hunt on May 26, 1938 in Winfield. The couple resided on their farm in the South Bend Community for 66 years where Cecil farmed and ranched. Mrs. Eastman preceded him in death on April 19, 2004. Cecil continued to live there until failing health required his move to Winfield Resthaven in the fall of 2012.

He was a member of the Hackney Community Baptist Church, Winfield and Hackney Farmers Union Co-op Association and other farm and livestock organizations. He was an avid conversationist, planting many shelter belts and encouraging wildlife. This endeavor earned him the Cowley County Soil Conservation Award in 1962 and the Shelter Belt Award in 1999. Cecil enjoyed his horses, fishing, hunting, traveling and most of all his family.

His family includes: His son: Eldon Edgar Eastman and wife Donna of Arkansas City, KS; His son-in-law: Warren Wing of Newkirk, OK; His sister-in-law: Thelma Eastman of Winfield, KS; His grandchildren: Teresa Swoyer and Lora Walton of Newkirk, OK; Christi Hook and husband Jerry of Tonkawa, OK; Rodney Eastman and wife Andrea of Derby, KS; and Julie Grant and husband Michael of Ponca City, OK; His great-grandchildren: Amber, Christopher, Amy, Audrey, Dylan, Benjamin, Bryan, Brady, Tori, Jordan, Shelby, Bayley, Gwendolyn, Kristin, Kayla and Jenna; His great-great-grandchildren: Daniel, Christopher Jr., Cobie, Lauryn, Cailyn and Lydia and: Numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter Jeanette, and her twin Annette Wing, his brothers, John and Leo Eastman, his sisters, Erma Cook, Dorothy Hiatt, Ruby Wagner, Hilda Stewart, and his infant twin sister, Cecilia.

Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Friday, February 22, 2013.

Relatives are invited to attend a private family interment and viewing at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 P. M., Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the Hackney Community Baptist Church near Strother Field. The family will greet friends following the service.

A memorial has been established in Cecil's name for the Hackney Community Baptist Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
