Frank Cranston Dies After Long Illness

Frank Cranston, 54, resident of Cowley county all his life and a Winfield business man for a number of years, died at 8 p.m. Monday at St. Mary's hospital. He had been seriously ill the past 17 months, spending much of that time in the hospital.

Mr. Cranston, son of Echel [sic] and Mariah Cranston was born near Eaton in eastern Cowley county on July 21, 1894. In 1918 he moved to Winfield, coming from the Silver Creek community. Twelve years ago Mr. Cranston entered business at the City Cigar store with his brother-in-law, Chet McMeen. Prior to that he was for a number of years meat cutter for Sheneman's market.

Surviving Mr. Cranston are his wife; two brothers, Charles and Clyde of rural Winfield; a sister, Mrs. John Butler of Kansas City; and a nephew Gene DeWald of Wichita, who was reared by Mr. and Mrs. Cranston. Mr. Cranston married Mae Barnes on Jan. 28 1921.

Mr. Cranston was a member of Elks and Modern Woodman lodges.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday from the Morris Funeral home. Burial will be in Highland cemetery.
