Virginia Book, 99, of Puxico, MO passed away Monday October 31, 2011 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. She was born September 17, 1912 in Marquand, MO, to Thomas and Mary London. She graduated from Puxico High School in 1921. She married Loyd Book on May 18, 1931 in Fisk, MO. They later moved to Mobile, AL, where they resided for over 20 years before moving back to Fisk. They adopted a daughter in 1949, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her was her husband of 62 ½ years, her parents, her sister Evangiel Head, two other sisters and two brothers. Mrs. Book was a nurse at Doctors Hospital in Poplar Bluff, MO, from the time it opened until her retirement approximately 30 years later. She moved to Puxico in 1994 and resided there until her death. She was a member of the Christian Church in Puxico and enjoyed gardening and caring for her pets Survivors include two nephews, Tom Head of Valparaiso, IN and Lawrence Head of St. Charles, MO; one niece, Deloris Hiebert of Winona, MO; as well as many friends in the Puxico and Fisk area. Visitation starts at 12:30 PM on Thursday at the Puxico Christian Church in Puxico. The funeral service will be at 2 PM on Thursday at the church with Bro. Wiley McGhee and Bro. Robert Nordyke officiating. Burial will be at Shain Memorial Cemetery in Fisk.
