Edwin O. Haroldsen was born and grew up in Idaho Falls, Idaho with many brothers and sisters. He lived on a farm and learned at an early age the value of hard work. He also had the desire to travel, which he fulfilled in his life. He served a mission to the Central States in 1938-1940. He married Kathryn Baird from Brigham City, Utah in 1941. They actually met on their missions! When Hitler decided that war was his thing, Dad inlisted in the Merchant Marines and luckily he only had to go to Catalina Island when the war ended. Dad was a newsman and he worked for the Deseret News in Salt Lake City. This became his life. He took his family all over the world and taught his children the value of hard work, honesty and intergity. He loved his sweetheard and was devasted when she passed away in 1987 of cancer. He did remarry two more times before he passed away of Parkinson's disease in 2002.
