Born in Limerick, he emigrated to Kansas City in the late 1893 . In 1904 he returned to Limerick and married Kathleen Benson. They settled in Kansas city and had 7 children. Kathleen fell ill and was brought home to relatives in Ireland in the late 1940s. She never left hospital and died on 16th April 1954 in Limerick. Their children were Mae (1905-1997), Kathleen (1906-1982), Lillie (1907-1982), Jane (1909-2000), Patrick (1912-1975), Bridie (1915-1958)and Bill (1919-1982)
