William R. Allen, Jr., 86, of Stuart, FL, formerly from Kansas City, MO, passed away November 11, 2007 at his home.
He was born in Independence, MO on Feb. 12, 1921 and was a Florida resident for 13 years. He was a devoted family man and enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating. He was very passionate about boating and loved living on the East Coast of Florida. He was a former member of the Jonathan's Landing Yacht Club in Jupiter, FL for many years.
Mr. Allen owned and operated Bill Allen Chevrolet in North Kansas City, MO for 35 years until his retirement and sale of his business in 1988. He was a Lt. in the Navy and served as a naval aviator and flying instructor during World War II. He was a former member of the Alpha Masonic Lodge, Ararat Shrine, Kansas City Club, Saddle and Sirloin Club and Mission Hills Country Club. He was very active in the North Kansas City business community and served on many boards including the North Kansas City State Bank and North Kansas City Chamber of Commerce. He also served as the President of the Board of Directors of Lake Waukomis in Platte County, MO. He was affiliated with the American Royal in Kansas City for many years until his retirement. Mr. Allen attended the University of Kansas where he was a member of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity. He was preceded in death by his first wife Wilma Allen who died in 1955, his parents; William R. Allen, Sr. and Martha M. Allen, and a sister Jeane A. Kelley. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Karin Allen of the home; two sons, William R. Allen, III and wife Olivia Allen of Independence, MO and F. Robert Allen and wife Vanessa Allen of Kansas City, Missouri and a daughter, Martina Allen Lang and husband Andrew Lang of Pueblo, Colorado. He also leaves six grandchildren; Lisa, Maggie, Bobby, Sadie, Kristina and Haley, two great-grandchildren; Taylor and Noah and many other relatives. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday November 24, 2007 at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Noland Road Chapel in Independence, MO; burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.
