Sept. 18, 1922 - Feb. 24, 2012 Fred W. Alexander, 89, of Kansas City, Mo., passed away February 24, 2012. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, at St. Catherine of Siena Parish, 4101 E. 105th Terrace, Kansas City, MO 64137. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, at the church. Interment with military honors will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Catherine of Siena Parish or the St. James Food Kitchen. Fred was born Sept. 18, 1922, in Cedar Vale, Kan., to Sandford and Clara (Duencing) Alexander. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII in the European, African, and Middle Eastern Theatres and was awarded the Purple Heart. Fred graduated from K.U. School of Pharmacy in 1950. He worked at Low's Pharmacy in Salina, Kan., where he met his wife, Maxine. He then worked as a pharmacist for the V.A. Medical Center in Kansas City for 35 years. He was a longtime member of St. Catherine of Siena Church where he was active in the Pinochle Club. Fred was also an avid bowler, and loved fishing and camping. Fred was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Maxine M. Alexander; his siblings, Luella, Maxine, Aaron, Sandford, and Arthur. He is survived by his children, Roger Alexander and wife Vicky of Independence, Mo., Vicki LaBarre and husband Pete of Woodland Park, Colo.; grandchildren, Mark and Elizabeth of Kansas City.
