Raymond C. Jones, age 81, of Eau Claire went to his heavenly home on Sunday, December 18, 2005, surrounded by his wife and family.

Ray was born on November 10, 1924, to the late Charles and Hilda (Gamble) Jones in Itasca County, Minn. He proudly served our country in the Navy during World War II. On April 23, 1946, Ray married Violet Zwirchitz in Galloway, Wis. He worked for Wisconsin Bell for 37 years. Ray was a member of St. Olaf Catholic Church, The Knights of Columbus and the Telephone Pioneers. He loved cards, gardening, being outdoors with nature, hunting and fishing in Wyoming and traveling with his family.

Ray was the best husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Vi; children, Joy (Jeff) Biniok of Crawford, Texas, twins, Ronald (Karen) Jones of Palmer, Alaska and Sandra (Mark) Walter of Lutz, Fla., Pamela Jones of Eau Claire, Janice (Wijo) Sazama of Chippewa Falls, Ann (Patrick) Belongia of Conroe, Texas, Michelle (Dale) Bronstad of Eau Claire; 21 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, George (Ethel) Jones and Ralph (Yvonne) Jones; sisters, Shirley Hart and Martha Ann Delago; many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, John and Frances Zwirchitz; brothers, Woodrow and Kenneth; and sister, Winnifred Truempler.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2005, at St. Olaf Catholic Church, with the Father Frank Corradi officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m., at Evergreen Funeral Home, Golf Road (one block east of Hwy 93) in Eau Claire, where there will be a prayer service at 7 p.m., and also one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Olaf Catholic Church Building Fund, Parkinson?s research or to the charity of choice.
