I am the great granddaughter of Josiah Thompson who is buried in Balch Cemetery in Alvarado, Johnson County, TX. I am a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and Daughters of the American Revolution. I have the papers of Josiah Thompson for his service in the War Between the States. Whoever ordered his stone made a mistake, one I would like to correct before I am too old. Josiah was not a Captain, but a Private. He was an outlaw and died as one with Benjamin F. Bickerstaff on April 6, l969. It is not a shame to have died as such as the War caused many good people to go bad. My great grandfather was born in KY.
