I've been researching the Gathright/Garthright (and variants and relations) for over 40 years.. when I found this site I wanted to help.. as what I found could help others in their search (some of these lists were hard to find or non existent then)

NEW VETERANS STATUS _ I DON'T CARE that Vets Admin doesn't recognize CONFEDERATES as Veterans - several states do.. including Virginia and Kentucky
I DO.RECOGNIZE THEM.
.if they fought in Civil WAR and I manage I WILL put the VA Flag on them!

Use of rank is reserved for career 20-year retirees or KIA. Its use other than this is prohibited by the DoD.

{According to Findagrave veteran designation policy: "We encourage members to refer to local customs or relevant military guidelines for specific guidance on veteran status." Currently the United States does not recognize confederate soldiers as qualifying for veteran status, despite rehabilitation}

- I do check most requests before accepting. have been getting a lot of mistakes (parent younger than child.. or long dead before child.. or not located in Cemetery; listed as Cremated but died before 1912 etc.)
**************************************************
lately I've been getting a lot of requests to link to INVALID memorials (see findagrave FAQ's for rules on posting memorials..) claiming Cremations when they weren't done as a regular thing is NOT going to hack it with me (Cremations were not {Regularly} begun until after 1912).. if the memorial is NOT in a cemetery and you've put as a Cremation but he died before 1912 - I will NOT link it to the children or spouse!! {unless you have proof of a "cremation" done before 1912 -{ so far I've found NONE... only at sea/Land burials- tho a few lady's were burned due to their dresses catching fire but still buried...}}

I Have been researching Family lines for over 40 years. and I'm good at it..
BUT, this is NOT a Genealogy Research project, this is about the Cemeteries!!!
while I like to get more info and do VALID link ups and maybe a SHORT PERSONAL BIO page on the Person that lists an Obit and maybe little more, It is UNNECESSARY to put lots of clips from census and other large documents and complete 'family histories' into the Bio. this is where the obits and short histories and locations of burial sites should be done.. (it is acceptable to me if Death Cert is put in photos or listing)
this really is NOT the place for your Genealogy Family Research to be STORED.(that is what the GENEALOGY WEB SITES ARE FOR! NOT HERE!!) PLEASE USE ANCESTRY OR FAMILY TREES for your data..
family links are NICE and helpful to the genealogist... but I have found that they are NOT always right! having the obit to prove helps... (I myself have had supposed family members give me DIFFERENT links for the parents of one memorial.)
[FG: "the goal is not to "own" every memorial of those to whom you are related. The ultimate goal should be to have MEANINGFUL, accurate memorials that honor those who have passed away, regardless of who created the memorial or who maintains it."]
please note - If I choose not to add all the information you send and it happens to be one of my family's memorial, that is my choice and I will decline edits if I choose to do so . This is not an family tree website and certain information can be posted on the Ancestry website or your own tree.
