My sister has been working on our family history for 40 plus years and I could never understand what the thrill was until I went with her one year to Frankfort to the Ky Historical Society and found my husband's family name in the family file drawer. And as they say, the rest is history. To me, genealogy is like a giant treasure or scavenger hunt. Each new piece of material is a treasure that's more precious than gold or silver.
