Hi~ I'm still searching for a marker for Matthias Heath. It's been quite a few years and he remains elusive...

Born about 1807, probably in Schoharie county, New York; removed to Wayne county, Ohio before 1850; then to Beaver Dam, Wisconsin by 1850; then to Clinton, Iowa by 1869, where he operated a restaurant and boarding house; finally to Hastings, Minnesota by 1870.

Sometime in the early 1870's, a burglar conked Matthias on the head and robbed him. The local newspaper (Hastings Gazette) mentioned the incident, but as far as I can tell, did not print a followup to the story. All we know is that his widow was living in 1880.

In the past I've offered a reward to anybody that finds him (if you think that's going to be easy, take my advice and quit now!) and that's still the case. Should you happen to, get in touch (if you can't figure out how, again, quit now!), we can talk about it :)

Peace.
