Bio

My name is Loren Kelly and I Am Nanticoke Moor:
"I am one of those so-called Delaware Moors. My heritage is Nanticoke Moor. I walk between many fires, meaning I have ties to the Nanticoke, "PEOPLE of the TIDEWATERS" and the Great Nation of the Lenape, "THE PEOPLE," as well as my Irish-Canadian and unknown Moor ancestry. I was never told that I was Native American or Moor. Without our ancestors we would be nothing. They must be honored."

We Are The Chosen:
We are the story tellers of the tribe. All tribes have one. We have been called, as it were, by our genes. Those who have gone before cry out to us: "Tell our story." So, we do. In finding them, we somehow find ourselves. It is of equal pride and love that our mothers struggled to give us birth, without them we could not exist, and so we love each one, as far back as we can reach. That we might be born who we are. That we might remember them. So we do.

Fathers and Sons:
I saw behind me those who had gone, and before me those who are to come. I looked back and saw my father, and his father, and all our fathers, and in front to see my son, and his son, and the sons upon sons beyond. And their eyes were my eyes.

We Are Driven Back:
"We are driven back," said an old warrior, "until we can retreat no farther - our hatchets are broken, our bows are snapped, our fires are nearly extinguished - a little longer and the white man will cease to persecute us, for we shall cease to exist!"
Nanticoke Representative 1769

Kelly Motto: "Turis - Fortis - Mihi - Deus!"
"God Is My Tower of Strength!"
