Bio

Specializing in the family of 1717 Germanna Colonist Nicholas Yager (b. 1678 in Germany) since 1989, I have been blessed with the input of countless kind Yeager relatives from all over the country, such as the late Carroll Yeager Thomas and Jane Warren Waller ("Lincoln County, TN, Pioneers").

With their help my first publication in 1994 was a loose-leaf book about my ggf: "The Family of Daniel Wayne Yeager, 1835-1910," which included input from subscribers to my newsletter of the same name, pub. 1993-1994 (now in the Clayton Genealogical Library, Houston, TX). Daniel’s father is Lewis Yager whose last name is now usually spelled Yeager. However the memorial I created for him is under LEWIS YAGER and includes photos of his burial place.

In 2002 my work on identifying Daniel's grandparents John Yager and wife Ann "Nancy" Render, was published in John Blankenbaker's respected journal "Beyond Germanna."

The following year I presented my finds on "Yagers Named John" in a seminar at the Germanna Memorial Foundation annual reunion.

In 2004 after more extensive research in Virginia and South Carolina courthouses, libraries, and graveyards, I privately published the softcover book "Following John: Documenting the Identity and Path of John Yager, born 25 Nov 1750, in Culpeper County, Virginia."

In 2010, I assisted Cathi Clore Frost in research for Germanna Record #19, "The Yager Family, the First Five Generations," and wrote the introduction for the book.

In 2011 and 2012 the Germanna Research Group (ed. Virginia Rhodes Nuta) in its online "Journal" presented my 2-part research article, "Follow the Money, Honey." This 80-page piece influenced the DAR to change their records on the identity of John (1750-1816,) son of Michael (1728-1794). It can be found at the LIBRARY OF VIRGINIA in their Archives Room, Personal Papers, Call Number 51421.
