Annie Matthews - Mt Moriah Cemetery, Montana
Hello 'a Marine's daughter'

I would like to thank you for adding a photo of the grave of Annie Matthews. She is my great grandfathers sister making her my grandmother aunt. My grandmother is 85 and I have been looking for her grandfathers grave which I have found in British Colombia. We are all the way over in Australia so I have asked for a volunteer to take a photo for us. My grandmother never knew what happened to her grandfather and his final resting place was a mystery until recently. Annie was one of his children and we have discovered that there were more children than we realised. My grandmother is hard to convince saying 'but my father never mentioned them'. Well he was the youngest so that might explain a few things as some died as babies and children before and shortly after he was born. He would have known Annie though as he would have been 10 when she passed away.
Just wondering are you related to Annie or is she one of your volunteer grave requests
Cheers
Megan

A. Brent Conner
Pop Pop McCready
Hi Becky,
Thank you so much for you kind words. They mean a lot. My grand father Lloyd McCready was known by every one in the family as Pop Pop.
He grew up poor and was born in what is known as Lawsonia, at a place known as Apes Hole. Growing up he lived on the rough side and carried a gun. He hung around with his cousins who were even worse. Crisfield, Md was known as the Dodge City of the east. In 1907 Crisfield was the 2nd largest city in Maryland. Baltimore being the largest. Today we only have less than 2000.
Pop Pop and Mom Mom (Mildred Bell Huckins Benson McCready,That is believe it or not her birth name except her married name of McCready) never owned much except the home place. They never had a driver's lisences either. They had 4 children. If every family had parents and grand parents like them, then the world would be a much better place.
Out of his 4 brothers and two sisters he worked three jobs so that one of his sisters could finish high school. He was the only one who helped his mother and father with their bill at the local store. He was a GREAT story teller so much so, the National Archives sent a man down to record his life and stories.Family was ALWAYS first. That's what should have been put on their headstone.

Thank You !!

Genealogy Site??
Find A Grave was not a genealogy site until it was purchased by Ancestry.om
It was supposed to be a kind, respectful to the deceased. for one hate all the crap people want on them now. It is so offensive.

Hello, I just happened on the memorial pages for these people, and I must say what a wonderful photo you have posted. I'm researching this family because a Daughter of theirs married into the Pavlovic Family that is the main Family name I'm looking into at this time. Any way again what a very nice photo! Cheryl

RE: Lawrence Tromly
Earnest, I added Laurence Tromley to Mount Moriah because this is where he actually is buried. The SAW memorial site is shared by St. Patrick's Cemetery and Mount Moriah Cemetery. St. Patrick's is Catholic and Mount Moriah is the city/county cemetery. In documenting the graves for these veterans, I went by the official records of both cemeteries.

My apologies for failing to add this note to Laurence's find-a-grave memorial:

"While officially buried in Mount Moriah Cemetery, Laurence Tromley is also listed in find-a-grave at St. Patrick's Cemetery along with all SAW Veterans who are buried in the dual DAR plot for Spanish American War Veterans."

I have a copy of his official military burial record showing him buried at Mount Moriah. I can send you a copy if you wish. He is on record at Mount Moriah and not St. Patrick's. Pat

This is the answer I got from Pat
