I was drawn to FAG after loosing a dear friend in a tragic car accident, as well as my only sister suffering a brain injury in a car accident on her way to school--she was a passenger, along with another beloved friend who passed away in the accident. That day changed so many lives forever!

I grew up in a small fishing community in N.C., moved away at the age of 17 and served in the USAF during Desert Storm. I've always enjoyed walking through cemeteries...wondering what each person might have been like in their lifetime. You'll find my "Pappy", beloved father-in-law and mother-in-law and our respective families and beloved friends among the many memorials I've added to FAG; thanks to each of you who take the time remember them!

I am always happy and grateful to merge memorials if you do locate an actual burial location of a family member or friend. I am NOT here to post memorials to increase contribution numbers. But to memorialize those who were so loved and are deeply missed.

NOTE: I have many memorials on this site that have no exact location of their graves, (my great grandfather Riley Thomas Lewis is one), but sadly, as many genealogist know, many states, to include North Carolina vital records (births/deaths), were not kept on a statewide basis before October 1913. Therefore, the location of many graves were lost as family members who did know the locations have died. Also, there are many cemeteries with the same names and no accurate documentation of individuals buried there. It actually took me ten years to locate my Dad's cousins who were buried in the "Philyaw Family Cemetery" in Comfort, N.C. because there are 4 such named cemeteries on the same highway.

ALSO: Under new FAG guidelines, it is frowned upon to list the names of 'living family members.' Therefore, if I have done so, it is because they are my family or a close friend of whom their family has approved of the memorial and their living ancestors to be listed. If I have an older memorial and it is your family member that you'd rather living members be deleted, I will be happy to do so, or transfer the memorial to you. Always happy to transfer a memorial, whether it be family or friend. We are all in this together, remembering those we have loved and remember.
