Among his other contributions, Bieda was the fundraiser for the Michigan Labor Legacy Project, raising over $1.5 million dollars for the erection of a monument to the labor movement in Hart Plaza on the Detroit Riverfront, and initiated and led a successful effort to replace two historic U.S. Civil War cannon that had previously stood in front of the Capitol but had been melted during a WWII metal drive. Bieda also holds the distinction of designing one United States coin, the 1992 Olympic Half Dollar (reverse side) and contributed to the design of the Michigan State Quarter issued in 2004.
