I noticed that you created the above-mentioned memorial for Robert B. Ernandez.
My maternal great-grandmother was Mattie Bett Tidwell Boulware, daughter of Cynthia Solie Ernandez and William “Billie” R. Tidwell. I am having a very difficult time connecting some dots and wondered if you have any information that can help me. In the 1880 US Federal Census, Bunion Tidwell (8 years old) is listed as the son of William Tidwell (as is a 10 month-old Allie Jane Tidwell). I can find no other record of a Bunion Tidwell.
(In this census, Cynthia Solie Ernandez is listed directly above William Tidwell as “concubine.” John Gladden is also on this census. I have documentation that Cynthia and John married in 1896, but I can find no documentation of a marriage for William and Cynthia. I have found other documentation for more offspring of William and Cynthia.)
My Mom just told me that her grandmother, Mattie, had a friend who married an Ernandez man. (Mattie had moved to Danville, VA after her husband, my great-grandfather, died when my grandfather was 10 years old.) I started hunting this person who Mom said was Kate Fox. It turned out that Kate Bell Brumfield Fox and William Brown Ernandez did marry on December 17, 1947. (This was a second marriage for both. William B. was still living in South Carolina.) I discovered that William’s father was Robert Bunion Ernandez, so I started searching for information about him. I pieced together the fact that Robert Bunion Ernandez and Bunion Tidwell were born in the same year, which made me wonder whether or not they might be the same person. I have found several pieces of information about Robert B. Ernandez, including the Find-A-Grave memorial, which shows his parents as William Tidwell and Cynthia Solie (not Salie) Ernandez.
If you have any information or documentation that will help me put pieces of my puzzle together, please contact me via Find-A-Grave or at this email address: email@example.com
Thank you so much!

Her name is Eina Bertha not Lina. If you look closely at the gravestone, you'll notice the E of Eina is shaded from a blade of grass (her parents were from Sweden).
Thanks, and I appreciate you taking photos of the gravestones.

|Anonymous||RE: Roderick Lodd Shaw|
Thank you so much for answering my questions. Years ago, around 1984, I actually flew to Atlanta, rented a car and drove to Columbia, SC, where I picked up a former sorority sister and we drove to the Sandhills Wildlife Sanctuary near McBee. That land formerly belonged to Murdock Shaw. I went to the caretaker's house and banged on his door. A truck was in the parking space, but I could not raise anyone. So, my friend and I set about trying to find the old Shaw Cemetery. There were so many brambles and and significant thicket. We also did not know which way to go. Eventually, we found the task too great and gave up. We found the swamp to which the son had taken the family valuables when Sherman was on the way to the house. We also explored the McLeod Peach Orchard land (previously noted as McCoy Peach Orchard in T. Blake's book) which once belonged to my great-great grandfather Roderick Shaw. It is amazing that my ancestor gave his slave 414 acres of land, which was a lot of land even then. Surely he was not the lone exception.
I also know that in one census, Daniel is listed and he appears to be the father but despite all my research, I cannot find anything further. I think if we could find from where in Scotland the family immigrated, we would be so fortunate. I went to Scotland in 2012 and loved every minute of it, all the while wondering where my relatives came from. There is some writing about the family being from the Spey River area (which is in the far north.)
If I turn up any additional information, I will let you know.

|Anonymous||Roderick Lodd Shaw|
Could you tell me how you are related to the Shaw brothers: Murdock and Roderick? That is, which of Murdock's children was your ancestor? Roderick was my Great-great-grandfather, his son, Archie Bishop Shaw, being my Great-grandfather. You can find me listed in Tyther Blake's book on pg. 139.
Also, do you know anything about their parents? Name, dob, dod, place of birth?
I believe that the information in Tyther's book about their parents being born in Scotland is incorrect. I believe their parents were born in America. On the other hand, if you have any information that connects them to Scotland, that would be so very much appreciated. Any and all information you could provide would be greatly appreciated. I have been searching for their parents for a very long time.
Thank you for answering my questions.

Hi. I just submitted a correction/edit for Arthur's DoD and the location of birth & death. The Social Security Administration recorded his death as occurring on the 13th rather than the 17th (which was probably the date he was buried). -- Christine.
