RE: Mattie Slayton
Thanks very much!
I contacted Susan Bennett, and asked her to put the image out there, but it looks like she was beaten to the punch by Tim Slaton, who may not realize that he is not allowed to move other people's images.
He is the grandson of Elmer and Mattie, and will probably be asking for a transfer of them, he had contacted a cousin Elmer about finishing Mattie's gravestone, and then the cousin died. Tim presumably knows her death date.
Thanks again!

Addendum
The corrections I am sending re: SLEDGE is correct, I am in contact with a direct descendant, their grandson. I am also suggesting a link in another EDIT.

Utter confusion, my apologies
The last EDIT that I sent to you re: 23312779 is correct, all previous requests to remove it are out of order.
It so happens that 6199512 Mattie Sparkman has virtually the same profile, and since this family came through N AL, it looked to me as if you had created a duplicate. But as you posted it without an image, but have the image on husband Elmer H, I would suggest that you post that image at 23312779, so that this is clearer.
My apologies, but if you link these two and put the image on both memorials, another researcher will not stumble over this the way I did. The person at 6199512 is a b SPARKMAN, but others have incorrectly identified her as an adopted SLATTON/SLATON. The dates and names are very close.

I would be happy to transfer this memorial to you for maintenance if you would like. I am not related, just take pictures to post on Find A Grave in hopes they will be useful to someone. Let me know.

Would appreciate any information you can give.

Thank you

Sgt. William Thomas Gass, Howell's 11th Light Artillery
Your "William Thomas Gass" is mentioned twice in my 1.046-page book that is from handwritten records. The 6th edition of my book will be printed in April 2015. Below is my entry for him in my 200-page Name Index:
.

.
Please help identify the "Sgt Wm. Greene" enumerated with Sgt. W.T. Gass' mom in the 1870 census as depicted in my entry for him in my Name Index:
.
GREENE, Wm. Greene, b-1831 TN; enum with Sarah (McFadden) Gass in 1870 Fannin Co TX cen p144 (Lt, Howell's 11th Lt Art'y, TST)
.
Please add a note to your Find-a-Grave posting: "Sgt. William Thomas Gass, Howell's 11th Light Artillery Battery".
.
Curtis Payne of Tulsa OK has for years led the task of reconstructing the history of this military unit. Thus far, about 170 soldiers have been identified. They were "sort of" financed by the State of Texas while they were stationed in Indian Territory and beyond.

I transferred Harold & Mildred to you. I can't wait to see when you update their memorials. I love to see faces to memorials if you add them. You are welcome and thank you, any help I can get with the xtra memorials will be much appreciated. If you see any other family members you would like transferred, let me know. I am much obliged.

I am very distantly related, not as close as you. I'm related to at least half the people in Madison County & that is no joke! My great grandparents Willis Carpenter & Elizabeth "Betsy" Ross Carpenter begat 16 children & they begat bunches & bunches & I'm still tracking them after 40 years.

I have no need of the memorial but if you don't wish to keep it in your care I will of course take it.

Thank You!
