Bio

I enjoy spending free time in cemeteries and doing genealogy, including helping those with unknown parentage or other mysteries solve them with DNA. I also collect antique books and antique photographs of all varieties.

-Please credit me if using my photos elsewhere!! This includes Ancestry.com, your personal genealogy page, etc. I don't mind if you use my photos, just please cite your source! You do not have my permission to download my photos and re-upload them here to find-a-grave. If a spouse passes away who is shown on a photo of a stone I've previously uploaded, contact me and I will upload a copy until I am able to go take a new photo of the updated gravestone. https://www.legalgenealogist.com/2021/08/13/credit-doesnt-cut-it/

-Please submit any additions, corrections or transfer requests via the "edit" tab on each individual memorial. I add memorials one at a time (not in mass uploads as some do) in an effort to increase accuracy, but no one is perfect. I do check ALL edit suggestions for accuracy, which tends to take up many hours of my day. If you are submitting edits for which the records or other sources are difficult to find, please send me a message to let me know what your sources are for the information. If I cannot find a source and you are not willing to provide a valid source, the information you submit will not be added to the memorial. *Please note that unsourced family trees, on Ancestry or anywhere else, are not considered valid sources.*

-I have no problem transferring as long as they are not my family; however, I do not support "memorial collectors." The goal of Find-a-grave is not to "own" memorials for each member of your family, but to make sure each memorial is as accurate as possible for the purpose of documenting final resting places. I ignore requests that do not include your relationship to the deceased.

My most meaningful work on Find-a-grave are the cemeteries I have fully photographed / transcribed. These cemeteries are special because (in most cases) I am related to many buried there:

-Lawrence/Cady Cemetery (Brown Co., WI 2006-07)
-Saint Louis Catholic Cemetery (Caledonia, WI 2009-10)
-Fairview Cemetery (Greenleaf, WI, 2010)
-St. James Catholic Cemetery (Oak Creek, WI 2010)
-Saint Mary of the Lake Catholic Cemetery (Westport, WI, 2012)
-New Prospect Cemetery (New Prospect, FDL, WI, 2015)
-Rexford Cemetery (Ellington, WI, 2017)

My biggest project has been Resurrection Cemetery in Madison, WI. I started this project to document all gravestones (and plot locations) in Resurrection given how poor the records are for earlier burials. I wanted all of us to be able to find people who weren't in the records the cemetery office, or who weren't fully documented there. So for I've completed the following portions:
Section 1, Blocks 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7 (2012-13; 2022)
Section 2, Blocks 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, & 7 (2014 & 2015)
Section 3, Blocks 11, 12, 13, 21, 22, 23, 31, 32, 33 & 42 (2013-14)
Section 4, Blocks 11, 12, 13, 21 & 22 (2014)
Section 5 (2014)
Section 6 (2014&2021)
Section 8 (2014)
Section 9 (2020)
Section 10 (2021)
Section 11 (2020/2022)
Section 12 (2021)
Section 13 (2021)
Mausoleum parts: Garden of Prayer; St. Andrew Niches
(Note for the above that I frequently re-walk sections to update them with any new burials since the initial walk-through)

I have photographed the following but am still in the process of uploading:
Mausoleum (2019/2022)

I fully photographed several cemeteries in Georgia as well, including:
-Sunrise Cemetery (Maysville, GA, 2014/2018)
-Mountain View Baptist Church (Baldwin, GA, 2014)

I've begun photographing full sections of Belmont Cemetery in Belmont, MA.

****If something happens to me, my husband is to maintain this account and my memorials*****

My thoughts on obituary ghouls [i.e. people who prowl obits to post immediately on here as a numbers boost, before family has a chance to make a memorial for their own loved one] mirror the following:
