RE: Rhue Christison
Sorry for the confusion. I have a copy of the sexton book of Greenwood and after I had no reply from you about the obit I typed one out but then found that she is actually buried in Fairlawn which
I believe you have the site in Fairlawn. I have asked Find A Grave to solve the problem. Sorry for the confusion but glad to know that Find A Grave will take care of it so that she only has one grave site.

RE: Malinda Gandy
I wish Malinda's grave had a stone. It probably did have one at one time but time, weather, and lack of care take their toll on the old cemeteries. If you go to my website ( there is a photo of the cemetery as we found it; a truly sad sight.

RE: Marion Andrews
Hi Janet,

Yes, that's correct. His full name is Marion Murl Andrews. But he went by Murl, not Marion. I used to go to his house and run my little matchbox cars up and down the banister rail in front of his house, but Aunt Lutie didn't like it and thought it would scratch the paint. But Uncle Murl was a very gentle and loving person, and the patriarch of the family after his older brother Malvo had died after the horse he was riding reared up, and it fell on him and the saddle horn went into his stomach.

I know very well what everyone called him, just like I know everyone in the family calls his son Marion Dean but everyone else calls him Dean. It's a tradition in this family that most people go by their middle names. His brother Malvo was the only one of the kids that went by his first name. His dad did (and was called Jeff), his older sister (Vivian), his brother (Wayne), his other little brother (Glenn), and my grandmother (Winona or Nona).

So while you are correct in saying what his full name was, I don't need to read any draft cad to know what everyone called him.

The only addition I have made to his entry is his nickname, the name people called him. That's Murl.

Gravestone says WORLD WAR II; obituary has World War I, was that a misprint in the obituary?

RE: Mary McCusker Weikert Clarkson
I am looking for information on the child of Henry Starkey and Mary McCusker Starkey. They were married in the 1870s at Council Bluffs, Iowa. Mary was a student at the Iowa School for the Deaf. Henry left her after the birth of the child. The child might have also been deaf and adopted or raised by Henry's family.Mary later married John Weikert and moved to Lyon County, Iowa.If you have any information, please write.

This is all I can find.

I believe Angela Owens Jando had duplicated your memorial and then I received it. I would be happy to delete it but I wanted to send Mary's obituary to you and Plot.

Date of death for 92739020
I've uploaded an image of the tombstone order card for memorial 92739020, Janet. It shows the year of death for that Samuel to be 1894. In the caption for the image I noted his approx year of birth from the roster for his Civil War company. Perhaps that will help people and honor him more appropriately than the "no dates at all" situation does. You get a gold star for doing your part to make Find A Grave more accurate!

RE: Sam Montgomery
I just looked at the roster for Company C, 48th Ohio Vol Inf, and I see that Samuel Montgomery (the one with memorial 92739020)was age 29 when he entered on 10-3-61, which would make him born about 1832. If the contributor would put even an approximate date of birth in the bio section of that memorial, people would be less likely to confuse that Samuel Montgomery with the one born in 1839. I appreciate your attempts to get this corrected.

RE: Samuel A Montgomery
Thanks for the heads-up about the death certificate on memorial 92739020. It's unfortunate that there are no birth or death dates on that memorial.

RE: Samuel Montgomery
Hi Janet. I really only added what was sent to me. I personally did not add any info on Samuel Montgomery. Civil War vet. I assure you that there are two Samuel Montgomery's in Lynchburg Masonic Cemetery on High Street, and one is Samuel Montgomery with a Co. C sign under his name. The stone and pic was taken by me, and I only added information that was given to me. I always link the contributor of the information with the memorial because of these kinds of problems. It is up to the Contributors of the information to sort this out. I will be glad to remove any info other then the name and rank of the veteran when you all have sorted out who did what.

Hattie Montgomery
Please review your information regarding Samuel A. Montgomery Civil War Vet. Someone wants to correct his wife to Melvina Moore Montgomery. His death certificate indicates his current wife at time of death was Melvina. I am going to add Melvina and if there is more than one spouse and it's including Hattie, Ok.

My source tells me he never had a wife named Hattie.

I have no resources to back this up.
Thank you.

Thanks! I removed the memorial that I had for Lois and there is a picture of her headstone on your memorial now if you wish to see it. But it doesn't have her death date engraved on it as of yet.
Thanks again,
