|Melinda Mashburn||RE: Redmonds|
John had a son named Peter. Peter had a son named Alen. Alen had a son named Darling. Darling had a son named Tyrone. Tyrone had a daughter named Doris. Doris had a daughter named - ME! lol
After Alen's wife died in Swansea, he moved to Ward, SC in Saluda County and took his kids with him. This is the branch I come from. I have found no reason for his leaving Swansea, but he is buried at Spann United Methodist Church in Ward, SC. My great grandparents, grandparents and parents are buried at Travis Park Cemetery in Saluda.

Hey! First of all, congrats on being a cancer survivor!! I have noticed you have left a lot of memorials on pages of my Redman/Redmon/Redmond family members. Are you related to them and if so, how? I would love to make a Redmond connection to the Swansea/Orangeburg area.

|Richard Weiss||Starting Golson DNA validation project|
Barbara Goodson and I are starting a Golson DNA validation project. We believe the Maj Lewis Golson is not a descendant of Anthony Gholson base on the single Y-DNA result that has come in so far.
We have a couple of male Golson descendants do a Y-DNA test (awaiting results) and several folks doing the atDNA at ancestry then transfering to FTDNA and GEDMatch to validate descendancy from Lewis Golson and Elizabeth Stehley.
All the current participants are the descendants of Sgt John Lewis Golson and Elizabeth Miller.
We are looking for any descendants of Lewis and Elizabeth's other known children, John Casper Golson, Mary Golson, and Miss Golson who married Mr. Robinson who would be willing to participate. Especially looking for male descendants.
Also, what document(s) do you have that support Lewis having a first name of John? Would love to have them.
I can best be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org

|Anonymous||Jacob Rhett Riley|
Hi, Laurie, and thank you for all the fine research you have done! My first cousin once removed (related to me on her maternal line) has sent me a lot of info about her father's family. Her grandfather was Jacob Rhett Riley and her father was Jacob's 11th child, Richmond Hobson Riley, 1898-1983. Richmond (who always went by Hobson) moved away and spent most of his adult life in West Palm Beach, Florida. He died and is buried there.
He is not listed in the grave information for either Jacob Rhett Riley or Mary "Mollie" Zeigler Riley. How difficult would it be to correct this? Many thanks in advance/Joan Mustard

|Donna V||Elliott Hughes|
Hi there Laurie, First of all congratulations on your continued recovery from Colon Cancer. Your story is truly an inspiration!
My question is on Elliott Hughes b.1840 memorial you have his father listed as George E Hughes. We are Hughes's in search for our ancestor and my father has a very strong FTDNA (Y DNA) connection to Elliott.
There does seem to be some disagreement as to Elliott father on Ancestry.com and thru personal stories with another possibility. So I am curious as to the hard paper evidence you have as to the father of Elliott being George E Hughes.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks You...Donna (Hughes) Victor

Hi, Thanks for your great testimony about colon cancer. My brother died in 2005 from colon cancer. I and both my parents had had polyps. My brother refused to have a colonoscopy. I'm an OR RN. My speciality is colorectal surgery. I gave my brother all the literature, but he would have none of it. His attitude was if you are not sick why go to the doctor. He only lived 6 weeks after surgery. His liver was full of tumor, had spots in his lungs and around his aorta. He was only 52. I say he died of SMS (stubborn man syndrome).
If you don't mind me asking, where did you have surgery and who was the surgeon. I work with doctors Hooks, Lawrence, Cheape and Jenkins here in Augusta. I ALWAYS share with families the importance of having colonoscopies.
Just curious. How did you know Mr. Stacy and where he was going to be buried?
I have a favor to ask of you. Would you please let me enter the obits for Thomas Poteet and Son Funeral Home. I work there part time and try to enter all our obits. I entered Mr. Stacy, but didn't know the cemetery.
I wish the funeral homes would list the cemeteries for the "private" burials. For example" Private burial will be at a later date in Hillcrest cemetery". I talked to the FDs and they just brushed me off.

|Myrtice Gifford Forsythe||Just wanted to say hello!|
So very sorry to hear about your bout with colon cancer........We just never know.....I am doing fairly well. Do suffer with bad knees, need a replacement but trying to get along without it. Dr told me 50% were great, and the other 50% had heck with them.....Said he recommended I keep taking shots, when they failed go to a stronger one, and by that time I should be deceased........LOL.....He is a mess and I feel so comfortable with him...........LOL
Really hated it when I realized the family pages had been removed......Had not been into it in a long time and did not realize what was fixing to happen.........Were you able to salvage yours? I lost all of mine............If you ever hear anything about retrieving any of it, please let me know.....Well Christmas is almost upon us again. Hard to believe........Great about your grandson, they are a joy.......I know you do enjoy him.........I had a gr. granddaughter born in 2006, 6 months before Bill died. A gr. grandson in 2007 and his sister in 2012. She is a little pistol.......Well again so glad things turned out well for you.....Love to hear from you sometime........Hugs, Myrtice Forsythe

I have family there and my grandmother lived there 15 years before she passed away so I have visited there several times and it is very nice and when I was there it was slow paced and I really enjoyed it. Do you know anyone with the last name's Mitchell or Tucker. Although my aunt and uncle have passed my cousins and there children all live there are in towns near by like Cordova.
I hadn't seen anyone from Orangeburg before besides my family that live there. My Aunt Virginia Rummel just passed away in February and she is on Find A Grave and then her husband, Eddie was my mom's brother and he passed away several years ago so I had created a memorial for him back when he passed away.
Were you born there?

Hi Laurie, Are you confident that Mamie's birthday was in 1875 (7/29)? It seems a little odd because her husband (my 3rd great uncle) was 15 (1860) when she was born in 1875. I had her birth year around 1864 from my records. I know this union was possible because he would have been 35 yrs old when she was 20. Just thought I would get a confirmation from you. Thanks.

I wrote a history of our little town here, and it was published in 1998. It's dedicated to Auntie, and I described her in the dedication. I still have a few for sale. Not sure you would be interested, but it does have information on her parents and siblings who wound up living here in the upstate. Since it's long out of print, I ask $25. It's hardback with 130 photos.

Thanks, Laurie. I'll check into that. I was reared in the home of Edna Inabinet Smith; my parents boarded there until I was five years old, and she was like my grandmother (although no blood kin). I wish you could have known her---she was the sweetest and dearest person. How are you related to "Auntie"? (That's what I called her because her nieces and nephews called her that.)
