Re: Greg Williams
Hey Cousin Laurie, How are you and yours? I got my heart tests back and they were ok. I have to go to two other specialists though.

Regarding Greg, I think it is so nice you have a database to honor soldiers and law enforcement!

Yes, I knew Greg and I know his family. I met them in 1997 when I moved into the house I live in now. They live across the street from me.

He and his wife Molly were not married yet. I was there when his daughter's Ryan and Reese were born. I met his daughter by his first wife (her I know as well, she is very sweet) when she was abt. 4 years old. I knew his mom, dad, and his sister from Newberry.

Greg was a Richland County Highway Patrol Supervisor. He was a Marine having served in Desert Storm. He was hit by a car that was driving in the safety lane while he was parked behind a car that he had pulled over for speeding on the highway. The car that hit him was going so fast that his patrol car (a camaro) ended up with the backseat in the front seat. He managed to get out and run to the grass and fall down. Another Patrol car came...parked behind his Camaro and yet another civilian car ran into that Patrol car. Greg was hurt bad and had to have back surgery that left him unable to work anymore. He developed diabetes. He then developed Pancreatitis and died alone in his home while his wife and kids were on vacation. He died on my birthday. I will never forget that day. His daughter Chelsea (I have sent links to his parents and daughter to their Find A Grave maintainer's to connect him) had a stroke after birth due to some kind of chemical Greg was exposed to during desert storm. She had a Liver transplant as an infant, and one side of her body was messed up. She was a Gorgeous young lady....inside and out. Physical therapy corrected her leg (I taught her how to ride a bike) but her arm was never right. She got sick while in Nursing School, needed a new liver, she passed away at MUSC waiting on a liver match and is now in heaven with her daddy. I always wondered if their line of Williams was related. Greg's cousin was the lead singer and guitarist of the Marshal Tucker Band. Greg had a beautiful voice and played guitar as well. He sang in the Marine Choir. I miss him and Chelsea. God bless them.

Hey Cousin Laurie

I went to a friends memorial to add flowers (haven't been able to as his death....and then his daughter's was very sad) Anyways, noticed you left flowers several times. Curious to know if you knew Greg or if you are just kind and leave flowers on all soldiers, former Highway Patrol's graves? His memorial number is 113006907 . I think I may add some pics to his memorial. Do you know him girl? If so, may I ask how. I have my

Thank you -
ALoha! You posted a photo of my grandma's grave site, and I wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Are you any relation to the Wise or Poole families, or did you post just to pay tribute?

Thank you so much. Charlene and Hoke have come home to the mountains every summer for years. We built our last home 17 years ago. They have a summer cabin just out of sight of our home. In April or May we always start watching for them. Always on a Sunday as we return from church, there they would be unloading the truck. My husband would gather up what vegetables he had ready and go out to catch up on the news. The summer was spend gardening, sitting on the porch, canning, visits by lifelong friends, seeing the Gray grandchildren, and attending family reunions. I will miss her.
Thanks again Mazie Gray

Ms. Hannah,
Would you please transfer this site to me. Charlene was my aunt. I also keep the Ivy Log Cemetery information. I was so busy arranging for the funeral and arranging accommodations for family coming for the funeral. I forgot to do this. Thank you very much for all you do.

Davis Cousin's....
I saw a lot of the Davis family at Aunt Shelby's funeral. I reconnected with many of my Davis cousin's whom are also your cousin's. We have all decided to get together down the country and share information, picture's.....go to the Davis Cemetery....which is all our family.....go to the other family cemeteries..... Kind of a small Davis Cousin's family reunion and attempt to reconnect and correct the family tree which so many have no information or incorrect information about. Cousin Lucy is older than my mother....and my mother is 75. Sharp as a tack....and we have access to a lot of very detailed family bibles and old obits etc. If you are interested.....lemme know. I talked with Carl Davis tonight. He called me. He wants to put together a Davis family reunion.... The kind my family used to have..... with hundreds of people coming from other states....the mountains...etc. Marie

I need help
Hey cousin.... I saw you have connections to a man that our family elders said was my aunt/your cousin who passed on the 10th of this month biological father. She and I tried to find out more about him before she died. There is a very interesting story surrounding this...and there is a marriage license that was filed for with Mr. Hampton "Hamp" Young and my grandmother at the Orangeburg courthouse. My aunt was born 3 months before his first son with his wife..... His memorial number is 49156673

If you know anything about this man or any of his family, I sure would like to know. Thanks, Marie

Miranda's husband's obit
Are you on Ancestry? I found this obit there for Miranda's husband:"After a short illness, A. G. Batton 66 years old, a former resident of Biloxi, and a member of one of the oldest of Mississippi families, also father of J. C. Batton, the well known councilman of this city, died some time last night about twelve miles north of Gulfport, and about five miles from Nugent, on the Gulf and Ship Island railroad, where he was engaged in chicken-raising and farming. It appears that Mr. Barton became ill sometime yesterday afternoon, and the news of his death was not received here until this morning. Mr. Batton was born at Rockport, Copiah county, where he lived until 1894, when he came to Biloxi. He was well known here and had many friends in this city and also at other places. He had gone to the farm of which his son, R. E. Batton, owns a part, about a year ago. The deceased leaves a wife, two daughters, Mrs. Fred Eaton and Miss Emma Batton, and three sons, J. C. Batton of Biloxi, R. E. Batton of Gulfport and Joseph Batton of New Orleans. He was a member in good standing of the local lodge of the Woodmen of the World, member of which will participate in the burial services. The body will be brought to this city, and the funeral will take from the Batton residence, on Lameuse street, tomorrow afternoon, interment to be made in the Biloxi cemetery".

Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Records, Book 3, page 5: Mr. Batton was 65 years old when he died from peritonitis. He was a farmer.

hey, According to she is my 3rd cousin once removed. I don't know any descendants, but if I discover any, I will let you know. Most ancestry researchers have the date of her birth as Oct 7, 1948, but I am not sure where they got that info.

Thank you
For leaving memorials on so many of the family pages. We have a lot of cousins girl. I am happy to have found that you are one of mine. I have a picture of William Paul Davis that I will add to his memorial page soon. There are many twins in our Davis, Spires, and Williams line's. My great grandaddy John William Davis and Viola Spires Davis had at least 5 sets of twins. They're buried at the Davis family Cemetery and are marked by Bricks only if memory serves me correctly. We have definitely got to get together sometime soon and talk. I have added a good many Davis family pictures to great grandaddy John William Davis children's still pulling more relatives in and attaching to their families. I have even taken and added picture requests at cemeteries for non family members from the request board. So much to do. So much to share. So slow am Hugs, your cousin Maria

.....another thing
..... My daddy had colon cancer. My aunt Brenda died from it....and I had polyps removed that would have turned to cancer. I wonder if this comes from the Davis side??? Heart issues. Diabetes and kidney problems seem to run in the family as well.
