RE: Edith (Wahl) Essex Find A Grave Memorial# 73724243
Hi, You're very welcome, glad I was able to help. I do not have any info on who Edith's biological parents were. I do have a transcribed copy of the 1885 NJ. State Census for her. She was living with Anthony and Louisa in New Providence, her age was listed as between 5-20 years old. The only other people living in the household were Joseph and Mary Wahl. Since both of them were aged "over 60" I would think Joseph is Anthony's father, but I am not sure Mary is his mother, but perhaps a 2nd or 3rd wife of Joseph.
Since Edith was living with Anthony and Louisa in 1885 I would think her birth parents may have died sometime between her birth and 1885.
I do have copies of the 1850, 1870, and 1880 census' for Anthony, as well as a copy of his marriage to Louisa in 1872.
I would be happy to email this info if you would like to have it. Al

Edith (Wahl) Essex Find A Grave Memorial# 73724243
Hi, My name is Al Stitt, I am writing in reference to the above posting. Recently I was looking into the family of a friend whose 92 year old mother is related to Edith (Wahl) Essex and her Husband John Edmund Essex. I noticed there was no reference as to where they were buried. In doing some research I found that John died 1/23/1907 and was buried on 1/26/1907. Edith was buried 6/23/1907. They are buried in the same grave in The Evergreens Cemetery in Brooklyn NY.
Also known as: Cemetery of the Evergreens, Evergreens Cemetery. I received this info by calling the cemetery this morning. Please feel free to update their dates of death and burial location to your posting if you wish.

Thank you helping me find them.
Sincerely, Al Stitt

I see a photo you posted of William and Ella (Hildebrant) Hoffman and I'm new to this site so not sure how you come in contact with the photo. I'm their great grand son.

RE: Crowley Family
Hi Pam,

Well, it is possible there is a relationship somewhere along the family line, although those names don't directly sound familiar. My Crowley family was a large family. Lots of siblings/ancestors. Appreciate what you find. Thanks.

You can find my family tree as the Pohl family tree. I am on Ancestry. my screen name on ancestry is JPohl256.

Crowley Family
Hi Jerseygirl,

I am researching the Crowley Family from NJ. Specifically, William Henry Crowley Born 5 Nov 1902 D 1929 - Not sure of specific date. You provided a posting here for Henry Crowley with Birth and death dates that are the same. Could this be William Henry Crowley and how are you related to the Crowley family from NJ?

I tried to find the marker to fill the photo request you have for their daughter Patricia Freeman, but she was not found in the parent's plot or vicinity. Do you know if she has her own plot located elsewhere within the cemetery?

You posted a photo of her on her findagrave memorial #27043315. I'm curious where you got it and if you're related. I've been looking for her a long time as she somehow connects to my Merchant/ Hopkins.

Please send me an email when you can. I'd like your opinion on the best way to handle a few of these memorials. I made a mistake and created some duplicate listings through the submit a spreadsheet option. These memorials now have photos and external links to other family members. Thanks!

Check vs. Chek
Hi! I had a case where half the family used one spelling, while another used the other! Thanks for letting us know. You might want to put a disclaimer msg. on the memorial for her and her husband, e,g.

(for bio section)

LAST NAME SPELLING DISCREPANCY: The grave marker spells the last name as "Check," but the other members of the family spell their last name as "Chek." IF YOU HAVE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION TO SHARE, PLEASE CLICK ON “EDIT” TAB, ABOVE.

That might do it! :)

Mike and Jane Deal
Andrew Smith III & Anna Meschon Smith
Researching this couple buried in Hopewell NJ to determine whether they are the parents of Jemima Smith Merrill, wife of Capt. Benjamin Merrill, who was hanged as a Regulator in 1771 in Chapel Hill NC. Jemima and her children were mentioned in her father's Will which was signed 17 Oct 1784 in Hopewell. Can you help?

Love the photo that you uploaded of her. Do you happen to have any photos of her siblings? My husband is her brother Barzillai's great great great grandson, and I think I may have a photo of Barzillai, but am unsure.

Thank you

Raymond Meyers Jr.
I was wondering what your relationship with Ray and Frances Meyers was. They were my Aunt and Uncle.
I was just at Gate of Heaven this morning and stopped to see them. I took a picture today as well. Is it ok to put it up?

Leo Betz
I was researching a specific branch of my family when I landed on the FindAGrave page for Leo Betz. Didn't know anything about FindAGrave and it didn't click right away when I read that he was your great-grandfather. I thought...that's interesting...he's my great-grandfather, too! Anyway, once I got my bearings I realized you were Leopold's granddaughter...I'm his sister Helen's granddaughter. I have some info I'd like to add/correct on Helen's memorial...still not sure what is the best way to do this.

I don't have an actual copy of his obit. I believe that when I read the newspaper microfilm, I just took a brief note. However, I will be at the New Castle Library within the next several weeks and will endeavor to obtain a transcript for you. I don't have the facility to sent a picture of the obit, but I can do a transcription. Paul Myers
