Bio

Right now I am involved with a project in conjunction with the Sauk Centre Historical Society and the Shad-Patton Funeral Home to try to map and gather information on all the people in Oakland Cemetery, east of Sauk Centre, Stearns County, Minnesota.

The oldest burial is of soldiers killed in the Sioux Uprising in 1863, but those were probably moved from the now-defunct Greenvale Cemetery that was shut down in 1874, the year Oakland was platted. At one point it was under the direction of the GAR, but went through a period of neglect and vandalism. In 1980, Louise Parker Pendroy renewed interest in the cemetery and since then it has been maintained.

Most records and many markers have been lost.

We'll see!
