Richard Short
Hi,

I just came across the memorial page for Richard Short in the Hamilton Cemetery. I see that you made the memorial page & added the headstone photo. I was wondering if you are related to him or if you took the photo for a family member who put in a request for a photo to be taken.

Richard Short is my maternal great great grandfather & I know nothing of any family members before him. Anything you may know of him would be a great help in my family search.

Thank you so much for your time.

Thanks for trying to find his marker. I appreciate what you've done even if there was nothing there. The plot map is progress.

Did the people who provided you with the map happen to mention if he is buried with his wife Marjorie Ruddock McKay who died in 1916?

Accidentally hit enter before I could type anything in the previous message .... lol.

What I was trying to say was thanks for the pictures you loaded to Violet's memorial! I also got your message about being impeded by snow, so look forward to seeing if she has a flat marker once everything melts.

In the meantime, I've just created a memorial for her husband - Find A Grave Memorial# 138928296 - since I see his name is also on the Salvation Army marker. Can you add the photos from Violet's memorial to his memorial as well?

Thanks so much for all this! I really appreciate it.

Just happened on this site and found my grandfather and grandmother's grave. Would a logical question to you be, "what is your relationship"? Is this where I could ask if you have any photos of his family. Thanks

Regarding the plot map you posted on the memorial for John Howson - Find A Grave Memorial# 136974189 -
does that mean there is no actual marker?

There is a note on the memorial in France that he is not buried at that location. I wonder why admin doesn't just go ahead and mark them as cenotaphs. Interesting.

Hello! You have taken a few headstone photos that I would like to attach (with appropriate credit given) to my tree on Ancestry.

May I please have your permission to do so?

Thanks for considering my request. :)

6 Harding children
in Prospect Cemetery, Toronto...

While transcribing this marker for 6 children who all died on the same day (plus their mother who died 24 years later), I was naturally curious as to what happened.

I searched a newspaper database available through my local library and found a number of articles about the deaths. I can send you a list (or even the articles) if you wish. But long story short, they all perished in a house fire caused by hot coal embers in a bucket left on the back porch by the father after he cleaned out a coal-burning stove. He forgot to tend to them later as he planned and they flared up and started a blaze.

The father escaped harm, as did the mother and a baby who were all downstairs. A 14 year brother jumped from a second story window and survived. All the other children in the family perished still in the beds on the second floor. Neighbors and firefighters were unable to reach them due to the intense heat of the blaze.

Perhaps, you would like to include this info in their bio sections. Let me know if you want the list of articles. I will keep it until the end of the month for you.

Question
Hello,

You say you only transfer to up to 4 generations. for the memorial of my ancestor you have, I obviously am outside that guideline as she is my 5x great grandmother. Now I've been to the cemetery for a quick visit. (Richmond Hill Presbyterian Cemetery)Now my question is exactly where do I go for the records? I heard the library but I am unsure. Any help would be appreciated.

Sincerely,
Cynthia Carothers
