Bio

May I start by explaining that I can't upload photos, until technological difficulties are overcome: my photos are not digital and my Android's upload feature is disabled. That out of the way, I am grateful that I found this site, as it put an end to years of uncertainty: a dear friend, presumed dead, IS dead, allowing me to begln the grieving process. Secondly, perhaps this site will enable myself and others to find closure, in relation to a long and ugly family saga... A Leo subject: curiousity killed the cat! I was born Susan Helen Oakley, and my birth registered in Northumberland South. Date of birth 12.08.1954. I lived in Southampton between the ages of 4 and 49. Like a friend for whom I've created a memorial, I was plagued by respiratory problems and missed much of my schooling. I spent a lot of time keeping my mother company while my father spent 5 days a week in London. I had one brother I knew of, 7 years older, and at a school miles from mine. He left home when I was 10, at which age I passed my 11 plus. However, I was 31 when I divorced my violent husband and began my education at evening classes, and 39 when I began my degree, graduating at 42... I have 2 daughters and 2 grandchildren... A search for a missing half sister began in 1998. I found her death record 11 years later... Part of my reason for being on this site! Of course, there is more. My mother's war time mistakes and subsequent deed poll name change seemed to have 'written her out' of history. I wanted to put that right. For myself, my marriage, on 23rd May 1980, is recorded incorrectly, under Susan N. Oakley, not Susan H. My own deed poll name change, post divorce, to Freewoman, doesn't help... Maybe I don't want to be written out of history, either!... I am on Facebook under the pseudonym of Karen Oakley. And cannot upload a photo to THAT, either, as the feature remains disabled, pending a repair, for which I have no time. VERY frustrating, as I have photos of Ralph Elliott Noyes, his wife Florence Emilie, née Godson, and her father, Richard Stephen Godson, as well as her sisters, Elizabeth and Zoe, not to mention the graveyard in which at least 3 of these people are buried: Woodmancote, near Henfield, West Sussex. NOT the Woodmancote near Chichester, in the same county.
