James C. McClure and Sarah Ann Gatts
I am the 3rd great grandson of James C. McClure and Sarah Ann Gatts. I would like to update their information as to their children. The children were as follows;

James C. McClure and Louisa B. Ambrose had one son William W. b. 1846 d. unknown (possibly 1849)

James C. McClure and Sarah Ann Gatts had the following;
Oscar Jerome b. 1851 d. unknown
Sarah Ellen b. 1860 d. 1933
Mary Jane b. 1862 d. 1903
John Henry b. 1864 d. 1928
James William b. 1867 d. abt 1925 (my 2nd great grandfather)

Sarah Ann Gatts was married to Thomas E. Early who died of Cholera in 1848. After the death of James C. McClure she married Ezra B. Gillett until his death in 1898. She passed around 1901 according to a family affidavit filing for a military pension from James C. McClure.

No headstones have been found for James C. McClure or Sarah Ann Gatts (Early, McClure, Gillett). But it is assumed that they are buried in the Round Grove Cemetery according to family records.

There is no record of Sarah Ann Gatts getting married to a David Morrison at this point.

Thank you. Michael Covert

You are very welcome for the link and the picture. Alice Mindy Yocham was my grandpa Shelt's sister. I'm sure at the time it was thought that planting the yucca plants at grave sites was a good idea, but they have taken over many stones.
I spent the winter researching my grandpa's siblings. One question that has stumped me is in Alice's obit it stated that she was preceded in death by three daughters; Flossie Walker, Madie Tindell and Wilma Lee Collins. Alice died in 1981 and the memorial for Wilma (also at Union Grove) has her date of death as October 27, 1993. I would appreciate any information that you can share about James and Alice's family. Yes, we know that the dates we entered were "interment dates" instead of death dates because that is the only date we have from the cemetery records. We felt that it was necessary to enter all the information about where they buried and hope that people like you would be able to correct the date. Thank you for the information. Nancy & Larry

James C. McClure
Thanks for posting a memorial for James C. McClure in the Round Grove Cemetery, Lawrence Co., Missouri. I have copies of two gravestone readings for Round Grove, one in the 1970s and other in 1984 and neither lists James so I'm assuming that means he never had a gravestone or if he had a gravestone it has not survived intact. And with the affidavit signed by J. R. Miller, I believe the son-in-law of Ezra Gillet, 3rd husband of Sarah Gatts McClure, there would be no doubt that James is actually buried in Round Grove. With his war experience I would have expected there to have been a military stone provided at some time. The Round Grove Cemetery officially started, on property owned by my g-g-grandfather, John Hunt, with the burial of his son, Lewis Wilford Hunt, a Union dispatcher who was killed by 'friendly' fire in Dade Co., MO, the county just north of Round Grove.

RE: Re:Skaggs/Miller
Thanks for writing me back! Virginia is my great-great-great grandmother. My great-uncle and great grandmother knew her and have lots of stories. From the stories I know she was a bit of a wild woman. She had 4 husbands. Every morning when she woke up she would take a shot of whiskey first thing and then roll and smoke a cigarette. Amazingly she lived to nearly 100! She also traveled across Kansas in a covered wagon. She would get annoyed at depictions of Indian attacks on tv and such, saying it didn't happen at all like they portrayed.
She had 3 sons with William R. McDaniel (1867-1943): Ozrowe Floyd (1889-1965), Emmett (1891-?), and Joseph James (1893-?). I don't have much info about her parents other than their names and birth years (which I am not even certain if it is correct). Thanks for any help!

Skaggs/Millers
Hi! I was so happy to find you pages for the children of William Henry Miller and Mary C. Skaggs. I was wondering, do you know if they had a daughter named Virginia Bell Miller (1867-1960)? Also, do you have any more info on the parents (Skaggs and Miller), or maybe even their parents?
Anything you know would be much appreciated, thanks!

Hi Lamb,

Thanks for the additional details. I've added the text of the court record, as we're not supposed to add links to outside sites here on F.A.G. I've also updated my records!

Very best regards,

William

Hi Lamb,

Thanks for the additional details on George Burket. My genealogy work is pretty much on the back burner for now, so I don't have an Ancestry subscription. I appreciate you sending along George's dates, and have added them to his memorial. If you come across anything more, or in particular if you come across closer kin, do please let me know.

Thanks again, and very best regards,

William

Re: Samuel Spitler, et al
Greetings!

Thank you for sending along the additional information on various members of the Spitler family! I've added the links you suggested, moved Samuel, added Samuel's sister Catherine and her husband, and linked Samuel and Catherine to their parents.

If you have other information to send along feel free. Also, if you're a descendant of this branch of Spitlers and want to take over management of their memorials, just let me know. My ancestry comes down through this Samuel Spitler's uncle Samuel.

Thanks again, and Very Best Regards,

William

Thanks Lamb,

I made the corrections that I could and sent on to those who have Grace's
memorial the information that you gave me.

This is part of my father's family--Homer was his second cousin I think or
cousin once removed--I would have to check it out for certain. Your information helped me sort out who everbody was on the headstone.
