Bio

Teaching professor emeritus of writing at Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, OH. I love reading, am interested in genealogy, world and folk music, and gardening. I am an Anglican, guitar player, singer, guardian of a rescue dog and mother of a beautiful adult son.I enjoy walking in cemeteries and have made it a personal project to photograph and record the headstones of military personnel in addition to requests in local cemeteries, in honor of their service and the service of my father, stepfather, and uncles in World War II and Korea, friends from Viet Nam, and students from the Gulf Wars and the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. If any of these service persons or others I have added are family members and/or you wish to manage their memorials, just let me know. I am happy to transfer. Anyone who wants to use my photos in their family tree, on Findagrave, or any other site may do so without my permission. I am primarily a volunteer photographer and often am unrelated to the people whose memorials I make, so I am happy to transfer.I am doing this work to honor what would otherwise be lost lives, to make visible what has been forgotten. I would very much appreciate tributes of love to: the memorial of a baby whose heartbreaking obituary I found in a newspaper from 1926: Baby John Doe: 136921616 . to a young girl who had a hard life and a brief stay in this world: Rene Holley 145768090, to another Baby John Doe found in a field, 197502245. to Carrie Johnson, 198803157, a Native-American young woman, with no family or home, and to Katie Shinew 54815689, who died of sexual violence at the hands of a group of young men. Heartfelt thanks to all those who have already added notes--you mean more than I can say. Please be kind..if you have a problem with one of my memorials, please address it with respect and ask questions before making accusations. This world needs civility and kindness now more than ever. Thank you.
