Bio

I was born Elizabeth Kate Orr (always gone by Kate) to Webster Thaxton (Web) and Josephine Marie Wilson Orr in Rayle, Georgia. I would say that the majority of my family are from Wilkes and Oglethorpe County, Georgia. I no longer live in Rayle, Georgia, but Roswell, Georgia with my husband, Clay, and our dog, Amos. The house where I grew up is still in my family and I try to get down there every few months to visits cousins, do research, etc. I started doing genealogy research where my mother left off (she and my father are both deceased). She had researched both her and my father's direct lines fairly far back and she had some information on the siblings of my direct ancestors, but I wanted to learn more so I've been collecting more information on both my direct and indirect ancestors. Who they were, what they did, what they looked like, where they are buried. So most of the cemeteries I have entered into Find A Grave are those I have gone to in search of my ancestors. I'll often take a picture of the gravestone, enter it into my Family Tree Maker and figure out the connection. Which is why when I upload the information to Find A Grave, people may wonder why only pictures of select graves were taken and not all of them, also why everyone buried in the cemetery is not listed. There are times when others are owners of information they submit, I try to only ask for my direct ancestors to be transferred to me, but there are also times when I ask for my aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. to be transferred to me. Many times people enter information into Find A Grave from books, etc. and once they've entered the information they no longer really maintain the record, how could they, they don't even know the person. Even if I've never met the person, I know them from my parents research or from the records they saved, etc. So I really appreciate it when these records get transferred to me.
