As a result my relocation, to Florida, I will no longer be available for Pennsylvania photographs or research and it will take quite some time to become as familiar with Bay County, Florida and surrounding areas, as I was in my original home area of Armstrong County, PA.
========================

Born and raised in Apollo, Pa., which was the epitome of "Small Town USA," in the 1950's. Graduated from College, taught High School Biology for 6 years and then I grew up and joined the Navy. My goal was to Serve our country and see the world at the same time and then, after one 4 year hitch, I would resume a Teaching career. Things sometimes do not work out as planned...In 1997, after spending 22 years in the Service, I retired, back to my home, in Armstrong County, PA. Retirement has enabled me to work and concentrate on the main love of my life, which is my Family and Friends and, also enabled me the time to pursue my addiction to our family history and genealogy. There has also been ample time, left over, to engage in the secondary love of my life, which is fishing. Now, there had always been an interest in family history and genealogy and these fishing pursuits of boating, canoeing and tramping the streams, in search of the wily Trout and Bass has led me to many cemeteries, which are located in out of the way places. It is to the point...and, sometimes to the chagrin and frustration of my wife, where I cannot pass by a cemetery without "exploring a little bit." Thankfully I have married a wonderful and understanding wife, who, in spite of her seeming, sometimes frustration, just winks and grins whenever I tell her about the discovery of a "New" Cemetery...and then admonishes me to be sure not to miss anyone's stone. (As if I would, Eh?)
Many of the cemeteries, in this historic area of the country, are very old...some are grown over and a lot of markers are in advanced disrepair and are illegible. I have come to believe that we are losing our heritage and history, by allowing this to happen. After discovering Find-a-Grave, it has become easy to combine my hobbies with family history and the recording of the old cemeteries in my home area.
It is my goal to record as many of the small church or family cemeteries, as possible, in Armstrong County and adjoining counties, before I am too old to get out of the rocking chair. It is a guess there are still a few years, to go, before that occurs: I hope!

I see you are managing the memorial for Richard Hemphill b 1930 d. 1937 memorial #104479259. Do you know if he is the son of Elmer Jeffries Hemphill and Norabelle K. Cramer? I am a decendant of Elmer's sister Mabel.

Thanks for pointing out the S that was in her name. That actually was for her maiden name of Stoughton, but I needed to move that to the correct field. That's been done, and I've added her full middle name of Ella. I still need to exchange records with you sometime, as we are related via the Stoughtons (Ruth Mary Stoughton is my great-grandmother)

Barbara Margaret (Decker) Spicher
Hi, Barbara Decker was my great-great-grandmother. I have been researching for 44 years and my grandmother whose middle name was after her was her granddaughter.

I am not sure why you have "Margaret" as her middle name. I have never seen any source that uses that name. As a matter of fact, despite the tombstone spelling, her first name may have been spelled "Barbra" as on her Death Certificate because my grandmother's middle name was "Barbra" after her grandmother and she always was proud of it being spelled that way and commented on it often.

Mary A. Clawson #68214301
Hi Burke,
I sent you an edit to link parents to Mary A. Clawson #68214301. I have since discovered that I was in error and this was the wrong Mary A. Clawson. Would you please unlink the parents from her (Joseph B. George & Mary George)? I apologize for making this error.
There is another memorial for a Mary A. (George) Clawson in the same cemetery with the same birth/death dates and photo of the same headstone. That is the one I meant to link to. This is confusing to me and I think the other memorial is incorrect as on doing further research, I found that the Mary A. (George) Clawson that I am related to was still living in 1903 when her father wrote his will. I will be contacting the owner of the other memorial to try to straighten this out.
Thank you for your assistance,
Rhetta (#48765189)
