Bio Photo ATTENTION: I will be relocating to Florida, sometime between the 1st of April and August of this year. (2014) There may be VERY long delays in getting to corrections, updates, additions or transfers. For everything, EXCEPT transfers; If these things cannot wait for me to get back in the loop, please refer them to the admins at findagrave. I must apologize, in advance, for this situation, but I cannot discover a solution, for this dilemma, since my time will, temporarily, be occupied with more pressing matters

Born and raised in Apollo, Pa., which was the epitome of "Small Town USA," in the 1950's. Graduated from College, taught High School Biology for 6 years and then I grew up and joined the Navy. My goal was to Serve our country and see the world at the same time and then, after one 4 year hitch, I would resume a Teaching career. Things sometimes do not work out as planned...In 1997, after spending 22 years in the Service, I retired, back to my home, in Armstrong County, PA. Retirement has enabled me to work and concentrate on the main love of my life, which is my Family and Friends and, also enabled me the time to pursue my addiction to our family history and genealogy. There has also been ample time, left over, to engage in the secondary love of my life, which is fishing. Now, there had always been an interest in family history and genealogy and these fishing pursuits of boating, canoeing and tramping the streams, in search of the wily Trout and Bass has led me to many cemeteries, which are located in out of the way places. It is to the point...and, sometimes to the chagrin and frustration of my wife, where I cannot pass by a cemetery without "exploring a little bit." Thankfully I have married a wonderful and understanding wife, who, in spite of her seeming, sometimes frustration, just winks and grins whenever I tell her about the discovery of a "New" Cemetery...and then admonishes me to be sure not to miss anyone's stone. (As if I would, Eh?)
Many of the cemeteries, in this historic area of the country, are very old...some are grown over and a lot of markers are in advanced disrepair and are illegible. I have come to believe that we are losing our heritage and history, by allowing this to happen. After discovering Find-a-Grave, it has become easy to combine my hobbies with family history and the recording of the old cemeteries in my home area.
It is my goal to record as many of the small church or family cemeteries, as possible, in Armstrong County and adjoining counties, before I am too old to get out of the rocking chair. It is a guess there are still a few years, to go, before that occurs: I hope!

I do not know the numbers. But another one probably belongs to William H Donnell, born Feb 1869, Never Married, coal miner, Washington, Armstrong, Pennsylvania for life. Mother Mary E Donnell and father John C Donnell. John's Find A Grave Memorial# 42826931. William H Donnell was the last known Donnell to have passed in Washington, Pennsylvania.

I sincerely believe two of the eight markers that are broken belong to Linnie M Donnell, F, born about 1867 and passed before 1880, both in Watersonville, PA.. Her parents were John C. Donnell and Mary E. (?) Donnell. The second stone I believe belongs to Mary E (?) Donnell, born 1842, died 1905 in Watersonville, PA. Thank you. Diana J Donnell-Watson
