Bio and Links
Bio Photo PLEASE use the edit tab on the memorial to send edits and other corrspondence related to specific memorials. It just makes things much easier and you will get a quicker response. Requests left in the message section take a back seat as it leaves the task of locating the correct memorial you are referring to for us to figure out which may or may not happen right away, if at all.

Not sure of the thought processes and attitudes of some fellow members of late. Let's try to do things correctly and not jeopardize the integrity of the site.

A reminder - playing nicely reaps more rewards than rude demands. Realize that we have invested a great deal of time and effort in setting up the many memorials we have entered.

It is not necessary to "own" a memorial to make changes. We strive to make all edits, corrections and links in a timely manner. Please give us a few days to accomplish that. Again - please use the edit tab for this purpose.

Please have verified the information you submit - we have received many edit requests lately that we have had to reject - just because the name is the same, don't assume that it is the same person you are researching (i.e., usually people that die in 1893 were not born in 1760).

We want to help get people linked together and appreciate everyone that has added links for our family members as well.

We are no longer entering census info on memorials - if you want to track that, please go on over to

We will gladly transfer to other members those memorials falling within the FindaGrave guidelines.

When requesting a transfer, please indicate what the relationship to you is. If it is outside the guidelines, we will consider on a case by case basis. A major factor we look at includes how much of a contribution the requester has made to this website.

We spend a lot of time photographing gravestones, editing and uploading. Please respect the copyright issues on our photos, do not "lift" them without asking.

Let's work together to add value to this site, not fight over who "owns" what.

And let's be courteous to one another.

I cannot express the appreciation I feel for the photo request you answered so quickly. I would love to have been able to see them myself but it's a bit difficult to get there from Utah. I would still love to see about getting a photo of Mrs. Juliette Allen who is supposedly a daughter to Samuel and Seville, sister-in-law to Chesley. the more information I can get on her the better. I would like to find out how she died and if she and George left a son, about five years old. My purpose is to Find a Wallace Enoch Allen born in about 1853 to a George Allen and "mother unknown" I've been looking for his parents since 1988 and all records point to him having been born in Bangor. Thank you again

Tom Banks
Sidney Henry George Allen
My name is Tom Banks and I live in Bolton, Ontario Canada. I have been researching my fathers genealogy. In the way of background, my Dad's biological father was Sydney Henry George Allen who married Opal Bate in Toronto, Canada in the early 1920's. They had two children; William Earnest Allen (my Dad, born in 1924) and George Henry Allen (my uncle, born in 1926). Sydney Allen left my grandmother sometime between 1926 and 1928. From what information I have gathered, Sydney H.G. Allen left Toronto and moved to the United States sometime before 1928. I believe he eventually married in the state of Maine to Ms. Dorothy Smith in 1928. It appears that for some reason he changed the spelling of his first name from "Sydney to Sidney".

My grandmother Opal Bate eventually married Harold Banks. My Dad (William Earnest Allen) and his brother (George Henry Allen) legally changed their surname to that of their step-father (Banks).

I would sincerely appreciate any information you may have on Sidney Allen pertaining to his life after his marriage to Dorothy Smith.

Brian at EarlyMaine
I have been trying to contact Brian with a question. It appears that all his Maine websites are offline. Do you know anything?

I would like permission to use the photographs in my family history which will be distributed to only a couple of family members but also to the New England Genealogy Society.
Or for our own personal use if you so desire.

Thank you, Arlene, Michigan. Find-a-grave contributor #47141910

Thanks yet again for the great pic! It is so much nicer to see pictures of graves on my tree, instead of documents. :D
